im just doing this bc im really excited abt this oc lore LOL

anyways. left is a new oc, one of a pair of twins, jasper suncatcher! theyre a storm wizard at ravenwood. this takes place when theyre about 12 years old (about a year before the game starts), taking a trip off world, and they run into this very weird man saying some weird shit (vito). he tells them about how ravenwood is corrupt and that they should abandon it entirely, and ends up preying on their personal insecurities a bit to play this up. vito himself is scorned by ravenwood for his attempts to dig up dark magics, as well as his unsavory reasons for learning magic. he wants to see it fall, and is trying to get anyone and everyone on his side. with jasper, he succeeds. soon after this meeting, vito joins a pirate crew, and over time starts to become a better person - meanwhile, across the spiral, jasper falls into worse and worse mental states, until one day, years later, they fake their death, steal their twin's identity, and start orchestrating ravenwood's downfall theirself.

She had failed, The Rose had failed at a simple mission, and now as per usual, it was time to face the consequences of her failure. Shocks upon shocks to correct her stance were shot at her again and again for what seemed like decades as The Rose struggled to remain on her feet. Every shot from Deacon’s sparkthrower brought forth immense pain and agony, and more shakes and errors in need of correction. She was only human after all.

    Then, possibly the worst thing that she could have ever done happened. She collapsed. The shakes had become too much, the pain and sheer agony coursing through every fiber of her body caused her knees to buckle, and for her to come colliding with the floor. Her mask weighed heavily against her face as she panted trying to regain her breath through the damned thing, it took everything in her not to scream. She tried to stand back up on her shaking legs, but Deacon’s metal boot came colliding into her abdomen. She fell back to the floorboards with a yelp, hardly even muffled by the mask on her face.

    “Pathetic,” the Clockwork spat, “You humans cannot even attempt to fix your imperfections. No matter, it is inconsequential to me. We will find…other uses for you if you are not of use to us.” He spun the barrel of his sparkthrower to a lethal setting and aimed it, point blank at The Rose's chest, right above her heart. “You will not remember any of this, come the next time we meet you will be…repurposed.” 

    A deafening shot rang out as electricity burned through her chest-

    “No!” Helena jolted from her bed with a start, her heart stammering in her best and pounding in her ears. Her skin damp with sweat clung to the sheets of the bed and her blue nightgown. Loose strands of hair were glued down to her forehead with the sticky substance. She gulped, panting as she tried to regain her breath and ground herself to her surroundings, her fingers clenching onto the sheets, balling the fabric in her fists. She felt a gentle touch on her shoulder and yelped, quickly jumping away from the touch, only to turn around and find her girlfriend staring back at her.

    Erin’s hands were raised in a manner to show she meant no harm, her brow knit with concern as worry shone in her eyes. “It was a nightmare, ace,” her voice was gentle and patient with her, “You're okay. You aren't there anymore, Helena. You are here, on my ship, in our cabin, with me, in our bed.” Cautiously she reached out to cup Helena’s face in her hands, and this time she didn't flinch away; rather she melted into her touch. She leaned into her girlfriend as Erin’s thumb gently wiped away salty tears. They sat like that in comfortable silence for a while, the silence only occasionally disturbed by a whimper or cry that left Helena’s throat. 

    She rested her forehead against Erin’s and murmured softly, “Sorry I woke you up.”

    Erin frowned, “You wake up screaming and in tears, and you're apologizing for waking me up?” She shook her head, “There's nothing to apologize for, love.” She ran her fingers carefully through Helena’s hair before she spoke again, “What was it this time?” She pushed gently.

    There was another silence, this time Helena broke it, “Deacon. Always Deacon.”

    “Should I be jealous of how much you have dreams about him?” Erin tried to tease and lift her spirits.

    Helena laughed softly, wiping away tears as her nose nuzzled her girlfriend, “Arse.”

    “Couldn’t help it, ace.”

    She hummed contentedly before looking down, regaining her solemn expression, “I was back there again, wearing the mask and all. It was during one of my…reprogramming sessions,” she croaked, Erin rubbing gentle circles into her back. “I fell. He killed me. Then I woke up.”

    “That sounds like an oversimplification of events.”     “Maybe,” Helena admitted, carefully putting more and more of her weight into laying both Erin and herself down. Eventually, both of them were lying back on their bed, “But we can talk about this later. I just…I want to get back to sleep. Maybe to have a more pleasant dream this time around.”

    “Are you sure?” Erin's brow creased, “I’m fine with talking about it.”

    She burrowed herself into her girlfriend's side, who wrapped her arms around her still trembling form, “And we will. Tomorrow, please,” she practically begged.

    Erin sighed and nodded, pulling the sheets back over the both of them and kissing the top of Helena’s head, “Tomorrow.”
