Thinking about the time I almost wrote a Pirate101 fanfic in 2021/2022 set to the lyrics of “Once Upon a December.” It takes place a few years after the pirate defeats Kane and is aimlessly wandering the Spiral looking for stuff to do. The crew takes the pirate to Polaris and goes to a ballet, and suddenly the pirate is remembering something from their childhood that even the Oracle couldn’t take. After a few chapters they realize the polar bears in Polaris remind them of another bear they previously knew. They go to Baba Yaga to try to jog/reclaim their childhood memories, and finally remember that they were raised by Erika the Red in Grizzleheim (they were a buccaneer raised in Grizzleheim). Then the crew tries to get to Grizzleheim and figure out that Erika had died some years ago. The pirate goes through a lot of inner turmoil but recovers her piece of the Map to Marco Pollo and continues on to El Dorado. The fanfic would’ve been called “Dancing bears, painted wings, things I almost remember.”
