Is Pinterest making it difficult to credit the artist?
I often look around on Pinterest to find fanart. There’s lots of pictures there and it’s fun to go searching for new art. BUT! There’s two very important problems. Sometimes the art pinned has been found on a reposting site. This of course makes it almost impossible to find the source artist if he or she has not signed the art with a name, or even better; an URL. I have even found pinned art that has been pinned from the dashboard of Pinterest itself! An other problem which is VERY common is art pinned from a picture page, a “pinimg” site. These probably have a name, but I have no idea what to call it. But here is an example. If you google for example Gravity Falls and look at pictures, you can choose to go the page where the picture is featured, or to see only the picture. If you choose the second, you will come to a “pinimg” site. https://i.pinimg.com In Pinterest, you can choose to visit the original site from where the picture has been pinned. If this is a pinimg-site, then I can’t find the original source or the artist! So here we have a kind of unintentional “reposting” problem. What to do? Do not pin pictures from pinimg-sites. Pin it from the site where the picture is featured. Sign your art with your URL
