Metaphors
People talk about 'metaphors in life' as though they come to you in moments of beauty. I've always found that the best ones don't. Me and a close family member have a wobbly relationship at best, including a failed attempt at me coming out to them. During a conversation today, we were talking about many things, when they said that, "Being unique is okay inside, but I'd never let you out the house like that." I found this to be the perfect metaphor for their reactions to many things, my identity, my clothes, my hobbies, most things about me. Perhaps it's worth noting that this was a conversation about my rather niche Halloween costume, and that they have almost a fear of being judged or preceded as not normal, and they try to reflect this often on me. It's like the "Rights" are not even there already, The "Wrong" is only visible to my parents eyes than "Rights".
