CLOSED EVENT STARTER FROM: DANTE @troubledwatcrs WHERE: SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK
the afternoon sun of early june filtered through the dense canopy of pinehavenβs central park, casting dappled, golden light across a makeshift wooden stage. the community theater players were currently butchering a midsummer night's dream with a level of local earnestness that made danteβs eye twitch. around them, the crowd smelled of sunscreen, lukewarm cider, and the unmistakable scent of small town domesticity. dante almost recoiled at the reality that these people thought community theater was high culture. he sat on a silk trimmed picnic blanket that he had explicitly brought to protect his trousers from the tyranny of damp earth, a pair of oversized, designer sunglasses perched on the bridge of his nose.
he was supposed to be meeting darling vivienne, but instead, he was currently occupying the same fifteen square feet of lawn as her freshly minted, profoundly reluctant stepbrother. "if that girl plays helena with any more vocal fry, i am going to march up there, confiscate her script, and show her what a projection actually sounds like," dante lowered his sunglasses with one manicured finger, his gaze sliding up matteoβs frame with the calculated assessment of a seasoned judge. "and it would probably be the only genuine entertainment weβve had all afternoon. though, frankly, i think the real tragedy is the costuming. linen? in this humidity? itβs a hate crime against literature."

CLOSED EVENT STARTER FROM: GINGER @troubledwatcrs WHERE: PRIDE PARADE
the main street of pinehaven was a full blown kaleidoscope of beautiful, contagious energy, completely drenched in glorious june sunshine. rainbow flags fluttered from every brick awning, the air smelled like a dizzying mix of sizzling street tacos and spun sugar, and the sidewalk was absolute gridlock with local vendors selling everything from hand dyed bandanas to matching pet capes. ginger was currently weaving through the thick of the crowd like a pinball, effervescent with excitement, rocking a pair of oversized thrifted denim overalls.
but her hands were currently full of a massive, slightly tangled set of iridescent rainbow fairy wings in search of her brother. she called out his name with a half shriek, indy indy, in almost perfect mimicry of kate capshaw from temple of doom which she was one thousand percent certain would irk him. but she really did need his help, the straps of the faux wings were proving to be a sociological puzzle.
she didn't find her brother, but she did spot the next best thing; indy's roommate, logan. standing tall and looking every bit like a golden beacon primed for utilization. "lo! thank the universe, you're a savior!" ginger gasped, bounding over to him like a hyperactive sprite and skidding to a halt right in front of him. she immediately whipped around, pressing her back toward him and shoving the neon straps into his hands. "i am currently a wingless fairy in desperate need of flight. loop these over my shoulders please, but don't pull too tight because i still need to breathe to project my voice at the afterglow merch booth later!"
closed starter for @btwnthepines Strawberry Festival π Kitty + Vada
Kitty looked at every town event as the perfect excuse to make content. She planned outfits, she did themed makeup, she tried new things, the whole nine yards. And Pinehaven's annual Strawberry Festival was no exception. This years outfit was a thrift red gingham dress and one of her favorite green Coach bags. She felt cute! And the festival had plenty of photo opportunities for her to get the perfect shot.
She'd come to the festival with her sister, who often acted as her personal photographer, but lost track of her when her sisters co-workers showed up. It was fine, Kitty had already gotten a lot of good content that she could use for Instagram, and she didn't need her sister in order to film things for her other social media platforms. Or, rather, it would have been fine if she'd remembered to get a picture in front of the actual giant strawberry festival sign. Luckily for Kitty, she had no qualms over stopping someone she knew.
"Oh, Vada!" Kitty called, practically skipping over to where Vada was. She didn't know the younger Davis as well as she'd gotten to know Jazz, but she looked like a girl who could appreciate getting the shot. "Can you take a few pictures for me? My sister ran off somewhere and I want to take a few with the sign..." She motioned towards the giant wooden strawberry. "I will buy you the strawberry treat of your choosing as a thanks!"
closed starter for @brcvehecrts Pinehaven Carnival π‘ Sachin + Zeynep
A carnival wasn't Sachin's usual scene, but as always, he was too curious not to take a stroll through. He had no interest in the rides or the games, and only indulged in a hotdog before deciding the food wasn't his thing either. He enjoyed watching everyone, though. The smiles on the children's faces were contagious and made the trip out worth it. One young girl in particular was always refreshing to see. When Sachin saw Zeynep and Defne, he approached them as he usually did if he saw them out. He'd walked around with them for awhile and stood off to the side with Zey while the little girl joined other kids in a play area. They were right near the ferris wheel, so Sachin nodded towards it. "Fancy a ride?" He asked, raising a brow. "I think the ferris wheel is the only thing my stomach can handle."

closed starter for @awcnderlands Forbes and Santos Wedding π Kekoa + Alice
The best part of a wedding was the reception, and the best part of a reception was the dancing. Kekoa was happy for the newlyweds, and the actual ceremony had been beautiful, but now he was ready to cut a rug. Tipping back the last of his champagne, Kick scanned the crowd until he saw another self proclaimed dancer. "Princess of Brazil," Kekoa called, his tone singsong. He held out a hand towards her. "Come on, girl, it's dancin' time!" He shuffle stepped towards her, his smile growing as the band started playing the perfect song to swing a girl around to. "You know you can't resist me!"
closed starter for @hotbobbys Summer Solstice βοΈ Susie + Konrad
It was a pleasant surprise for Susie to learn that Pinehaven hosted so many events during June. She'd been worried about being in a small town during the summer and entertaining an almost 5 year old. But they'd had a fun first month in town. They were at the local lake on the longest night of the year, joining everyone in watching the sun go down. Gaia was fast asleep in her arms, having played her little heart out all day, and Susie was looking for a good spot to spread out her blanket. When she saw a spot big enough for them to fit, she went towards it. "Do you mind if I spread out here?" Susie asked the man sitting closest. "She's becoming a dead weight, I might drop her if I don't get her laid down soon." She joked, her tone soft as to not wake Gaia up.

Who knew how many things could be done with strawberries? So far Susie had eaten a funnel cake with strawberries on top, tried a strawberry beer, tried strawberries on a taco, and now had a plate with a piece of strawberry pizza on it. She took her pizza to a table near the bounce house that Gaia was jumping in, and took a bite. "Holy shit..." Susie said to herself, and to the girl sitting at the table, too. "Who knew strawberries on pizza actually kind of works?" It was weird, but she didn't hate it. Susie looked over at where Gaia was playing, and then back to the other woman at the table. "Tried anything weird today? I think I've got room for one more treat but I don't know what to try."
