Tsuishu kamakura bori pine and crane eyedropper fountain pen, c1925. This is a large Japanese eyedropper fountain pen with shut-off plunger hand carved using the kamakura bori technique, where many layers of urushi lacquer is layered over the ebonite base pen and then deeply carved. This pen depicts a pine tree, representing endurance because they remain green all winter, and a crane, representing long life as cranes mate for life. The pen has as many as eighteen layers of urushi and the design cuts as deep as 2mm, into the ebonite base. It is signed by the artist, Tsuishu, c1925. An unused photo from the article, Collecting Japanese Pens by Stan Klemanowicz in the Winter, 2006 Pennant.

The mince pork on rice was one of our favorite dishes at @pineandcrane! Extremely flavorful and perfectly complimented by that egg 🍳🌱 #PineAndCrane #lettherebefood .
