Lance’s family owns a pet store hence why he works there rather than a fast food chain like a normal teenager

The Holt’s dog actually came from the pet store.

One day Katie came in with Gunther to find him a new collar when Lance happened to be working 

“Hello we-” boy is awe struck as the golden haired honey eyed beaut is standing there talking to her dog

Looking up Katie gave a sincere smile “Hello.” and walked off to the collars

Lance could have sworn he had seen her somewhere before, but couldn’t put his finger on it until the next day at school when he spies her in the cafeteria sitting with some of the seniors, Allura, Shiro, and Matt as well as his enemy Keith.

“Who is she?” Lance asked Hunk

“Katie? She’s Matt Holt’s little sister, a sophomore who’s in my junior AP level math and science classes! She is wicked smart.”

Lance is internally screaming because not only is Katie cute, but she’s smart? What even?!

After school Lance ‘accidentally’ bumps into Katie

“I’m so- Hey you’re the girl from yesterday!”

Katie is a little annoyed at first having dropped her books, but calmed down when Lance began to apologize “Yeah, i’m Katie.”

“Lance, so uh I heard from Hunk you’re pretty smart.”

“I guess? I mean when Matt is your older brother you kinda pick up on hi nerdy tendencies.”

Matt walked up as if on que with his hand in Shiro’s “I heard that.”

After that Katie told Lance she’d see him tomorrow and left with Matt and Shiro

When the weekend came Katie walked in to the pet store “Hey uhm, are you guy still hiring?”.

They weren’t, but did that stop Lance from going in the back and begging his Mother until she said yes, nope.

After an interview Katie was hired .

Lance and Katie started to get closer the more they worked together and him and Hunk even started eating Lunch with the rest of the group which lead to Hunk meeting Shay

Once while Katie was cleaning the bird cages most if not all of the birds were either on her shoulders or head. Lance has a picture of it as his screen saver

On down time one day Katie was sitting and playing with some of the puppies that were up for adoption and Lance just fucking melted when she started laughing as they gave her kisses 

“I wish I could kiss you too.”

“Did you say something?”

“No! nope! Not at all!”

After a few months Katie had began to get a small crush on Lance having fallen for his silly antis, but also his big heart though she doubted he’d go for a girl like her

The friend group is about annoyed with how the two dorks can’t see the other likes them so they set up a date at a cafe

Lance shows up and see’s Katie and is confused

“Where’s Hunk?”

“I don’t know, have you seen Allura?”

“No, was she supposed to meet you here?”

“Yeah at 2.”

“Same with Hunk..”

It takes them a minute and they immediately grow red faced realizing they had been set up

“Oh God this is a date set up.” Katie says hiding her face

“I-I mean I don’t mind going on a date with you- I mean if it’s okay with you that is!”

“You want to go on a date with me?

“I mean yeah, I have for a good while now.”

“Good while.”

“Since the day you walked into the pet store and i’ve just fallen faster and faster.”

I want to follow all of you. I need more of this ship on my dashboard.
