Well, there went Georgia’s holiday bonus.

Begrudgingly, but with certainty in his heart, Vaughn enclosed 5,000G each in four separate envelopes. 

The Pelago Wildlife Rehabilitation Center was in its infancy. It was a repurposed winery, and shaping something like that into what it was now had been a lot of work. But it was up and running, and their little cast of injured animals was slowly growing, all the while being given the utmost in care and compassion. 

He was proud. This was the most important thing he had ever done. 

Without these people, he wouldn’t be doing it. They were something special. They were people he, despite his taciturn demeanor, would call his allies, without a moment’s thought. Maybe someday they’d even be his friends.

With these sentiments, he could bear to give up a bit of money, if it helped them live a little better. He wished he could give more but the man wasn’t made of money. 

Thanks for working with me. We’re doing good things here.

He hand-delivered most of the envelopes; after all, half of his employees lived in the same apartments as him. But he would have to pay to mail Agate’s envelope out to her. Every G he had to part with stung.

Now he’d have to try to save up some money. It was about time he got out of these shithole apartments...

Lily headed over to Leuda Mines early, wanting to make a good impression by being there before him. She had agreed to help an Arcadian, Ludus, find a precious gem for one of his clients, seeing as he’d done her a favour a couple of months ago, and today was the day he was coming over to fulfil this request.

The two had met on Arcadia several months ago by chance, when Lily had found herself lost and he was the first person she’d come across for directions. They’d ended up striking up a conversation -- she’d been curious and inquired about his tribal-looking tattoos -- and she found out he wasn’t native to the area, but now worked mainly as a carpenter on Arcadia. 

Flashback to when she finally decided to move out of the Snowstyle Apartments and into her own house, she realised she needed help with the moving process, as well as some new furniture to fill the much bigger space. So, she had enlisted Ludus’ help, and he’d been kind enough to travel to Leuda to assist her. Upon finding out she worked at the Leuda Mining Company and frequented the mines, he’d asked for a favour in return: to help him find a diamond for a mythic-level upgrade on a customer’s tool. Lily had, of course, accepted. Not only did she spend most of her free time in the mines anyway, making it almost no inconvenience for her, but she welcomed the excuse to spend more time with somebody she found fascinating.

Summer was Alex’s favourite season. The sun, the beach, the pretty girls in bikinis... Plus, it gave him an excuse to walk around shirtless and show off his hard work at the gym. So when his friend Ludus invited him to go surfing that afternoon, he said yes without a second thought. Sure, he didn’t know how to surf, but how hard could it be? He saw people doing it all the time. If they could do it, he could do it, easily.

Rocking up to the beach with his (freshly bought) surfboard, his eyes scanned the surrounding area for Ludus and quickly spotted his striking blue hair. He headed over with a grin.

“Hey! I’m not late, am I?” 

The hot sun made the brunet look forward to diving in the cold ocean, so he eagerly continued, “You ready?”
