Very nearly just turned this in on a final exam. Luckily I caught myself in time, and while I’m sure it would have given the professor a laugh, I’m equally sure that it’s not the most encouraging thing to see on the first problem of the exam.

some handwritten study affirmations for yall today
i’m definitely struggling today/this week with my CS homework… it got hard fast. doesn’t help that my fatigue has been bad too. but we persist! i refuse to give up! even if im sleepy!
oops i forget to keep updated!
i’m really REALLY enjoying my coding class (CS 1400 - intro to coding python)! it’s super fun and rewarding and almost addictive to learn more and be able to try it out! plus, this class is set up super well. it feels like i’m set up for success while encouraging failure, which is great!
my other class, MUSC 1400 - intro to music theory, is very easy but still fun! the tool that’s being used to teach it is a little outdated, but it works well so i can’t complain! since i have a background in music already (11 years harp, 5 years violin, 1 year flute, 5 years singing/choir, currently learning piano), it’s a lot of stuff i already know but i feel like it’s keeping me engaged in learning piano and thinking about music which is great! plus, i could use a refresher.
i hope everyone’s summer semester is going great! you’ve got this!
hmm.
did you know there’s a function called the ‘semifactorial’, represented by two exclamation points, which is similar to the factorial but only uses numbers of the same even/oddness as the original number (i.e. 7!! = 7 * 5 * 3 * 1 = 105)?
did you know this is NOT the same as a double factorial (i.e. (3!)! = (3 * 2 * 1)! = 6! = 6 * 5 * 4 * 3 * 2 * 1 = 720)?
did you know that the textbook “The Basics of Nuclear and Particle Physics” by Alexander Belyaev and Douglas Ross uses the semifactorial without first defining it for the reader, nor clarifying it is not the double factorial?
now you do! and so do i! and you got it with substantially less suffering than me! 🙃
