Meet Jezero Crater In a couple days, NASA is launching its second nuclear-powered, car-sized rover to Mars, aiming for a landing early next year in the area at the lower-center of this image. This is Jezero Crater, target for NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover.
Biotite.
[Phyllosilicate.]
A big plate of the #mineral #muscovite which is a #phyllosilicate and a type of clay. It's used as a glass coating in ovens because it does not conduct heat very well. You can peel it off in thin flexible sheets. #geologyjohnson #geology #crystals https://www.instagram.com/p/B6-wiQIpW7m/?igshid=1vmoapjrkkr0s

Mica book
One family of minerals called phyllosilicates tends to form grains that are extremely flat. The root of that term, phyllo, is the same term that appears in the common “phyllo” or “Fillo” dough, which is a very thin layer of dough used in pastries. The original Greek term translates to “leaf”.
The thin layers in this type of mineral are created because of the internal pattern of strong and weak bonds. In phyllosilicates, strong silicon-oxygen bonds extend outward in 2 directions, creating a strong plane in the mineral that is hard to break. However, the layers in the third dimension are held together with weak potassium-oxygen bonds. This structure, strong in 2 directions and weak in the third, creates the wafer shape of this grain of the mineral biotite.

Why didn't Peridot's outfit change when she reformed?!?
It could be a possibility that she didn’t want to change. I mean the change is purely by choice.
Your Peridot wig is amazing! Great job!
Thank you! If you’re referring to the Peridot I reblogged earlier though, that one isn’t me. But thanks still!
