teardrops is like, a bop. people say it reminds them of linkin park and i can hear it, yea, but i havent listened to a lot of LP besides crawling and numb. and i watched nik nocturnal say it reminded him of early three days grace, and i think breaking benjamin at the end -- i'm only familiar with 'one-x' with TDG and have zero familiarity with BB. im not sure how early one-x is but i didnt really hear anything one-x like in teardrops. but anyway i love it, mmm the breakdown.

kingslayer, i was hesitant about when i saw babymetal because i was worried it would be too "cheerleader"-y (i dont think they do any screaming and stuff) but i was pleasantly surprised when i heard their part (i think the singing is really great). like the part where after they say 'kingslayer' and it goes higher and it's in japanese. chef's kiss. gonna find out what theyre saying later.

tangentially related- the japanese metalcore scene is great, absolutely love it. my like, 'entry' into the mxc scene involved foreground eclipse (thanks osu) and i love listening to 'from under cover' and 'when innocence is just a mask'. and also some animes have like openings and endings with metal jp songs (i remember somewhat recently, specifically fire force) so its nice to see it being embraced. i remember actually watching an anime because i liked the opening being metal-esque (shingeki no bahamut).

parasite eve has a nice chorus but im not super into the like -- the girl saying the end has arrived part. it's fine but its like, low energy, and then the chorus is like !!!! it's a fine song though, sounds great

obey - catchy, but i'm not a fan of yungblood's voice in general, so i knew i wouldn't be like in love with it. but it's a good song!
