Jack is a feast for the senses, all long limbs and golden skin. He occupies much more of the bed than Phryne ever does, his arms stretching easily across it and his legs, which Phryne has left unrestrained, reaching to nearly its foot. The sight of the small muscles in Jackâs arms tensing, gently testing his restraints, makes Phryneâs belly clench.Â

My Thoughts On Phrack
This was posted on my fic blog but got buried when it was posted, and I ran across it recently and decided to post it her. This was written in response to an ask from @strangedreamings about my thoughts on the Jack Robinson/Phryne Fisher (from Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries) ship. If you aren't familiar with the series, find a way to watch it. It's an absolute delight.
And now, to my thoughts...
I think this is slow burn done right. There are very few on-screen examples of doing a slow burn well and still keeping the relationship interesting (Caskett from Castle is another more recent example, and I think Mulder/Scully would qualify as an old school version) and MFMM had fewer seasons and fewer episodes per season to do it. But! They got the spirit of a slow burn, and I respect that.
Also, not just going on about the chemistry, but what I love most about the ship is the immense respect that Jack and Phryne have towards each other. Admittedly, the first episode there isnât much until the very end, and thatâs snuffed a bit by the raging fire that happened after Phryne left, but likeâŚthey grow on each other and grow to like each other and the whole time there is respect. And thatâs just a lovely view of a relationship. You can see Phryne tone down her flirting with him after âRaisins And Almonds,â for example, when he says âBut a marriage is still a marriage.â She knows heâs married but separated, but still. She respects that.
And even when the respect is muddied, like in the episode âBlood At The Wheel,â where she uses their friendship to give her deceased friend the proper investigation she ended up deserving or helping her other friend be there when her daughter finished the race, when he has legitimate reasons to be angry, he still respects that it is who she is and he does not want her to change. But he has limits, and she has crossed them, and for the time being, he needs time away from her.
And then she respects that, until Mac forces them together, even though I donât know if she was aware of the rift or not. The fact that they had both realized they are better as a team means that on top of personal respect, they respect not only each other as equals, but their working relationship as something important. Youâll note after that, Phryne doesnât really try trickery to get her way with Jack.
But then. Then! Between âMurder Under the Mistletoeâ and the season 3 premiere, they decided to take a chance. We donât see the exact moment, and I donât know if Jack and Phryne were on the same level of what they wanted to happen the evening Phryneâs father interrupted their date, but still. It was clear they both wanted more, and whatever limitations were set on that more that night, Iâm sure both parties would have respected the boundaries and then moved forward from there.
(Also, side note: the Phrackers and the MFMM fandom as a whole is one of the best Iâve ever been involved in, to be honest. Thereâs very little that we disagree about and we do it very politely and civilly and I think other fandoms could take lessons from them).

I know I keep asking for requests but I'm genuinely so bored rn lmfao đ
jack's side face looks so young and pretty so when i see the scene phryne and jack's side face, the age gap between the two of them seems quite big (phryne is older), so I feel soo... i really like couples where the woman is older and the man is younger
when i watch s1e2's last part i become a girl đđđ my heart flutters so much đ¤đ¤đ¤
