Yee! I think we started talking after my first initial rampage of activity working on it, there's a whole lot of old posts in my tag!

The Five Bright Stars follows two MCs, Taps Bettencourt and Riker Venczel (who is an OC version of Riker Szarka). Taps is an antique-class robot who was built to be a dancer in a 5-part troupe called The Five Bright Stars, but became estranged from most of his siblings early on and now hasn't spoken to any of them for years. Riker is a middle-aged, prodigal roboticist with a felony conviction that ruined his career and has been strong-armed into illegal work ('scrapping') by his cousin, Toni. In the current draft, Taps hires Riker to fix him up when he's on the verge of losing his job of 20+ years. Riker takes the work seriously and becomes fond of Taps, and when Taps becomes at risk of being scrapped by Toni's crew, Riker and Taps go on the run, hoping to both escape Toni and reunite Taps with his family. The story also covers both of their backstories in detail, from Taps' time as a carney and a medical aid, to Riker's childhood in rural Missouri and the fallout of his felony charge.
