1. there are no seams between the dan side and the phil side, and the colours on phil's side are subtly different from the original duvet anyway; the green and purple squares are nowhere to be seen, aside from on the pillow which looks slightly more authentic. This means these sheets are not simply the old ones seamed together in the middle, as might have been assumed initially.

2. Burning, luckily, is actually the primary way to find out what the fabric content of a given textile is, and based on the way the edges of these sheets curl and melt to a hard, plastic-y looking edge as they burn, these sheets are made from 100% polyester, which the original bedsheets wouldn't have been. In fact, the product description for Brunkrissla sheets on the Ikea website lists them as a cotton/viscose blend which would absolutely not behave this way, as cotton and viscose are made from cotton fluff and wood pulp respectively and would crumble into a fine ash at the edges and burn like paper.

3. the precisely square edges of each coloured block, the method by which it must have been dyed (ie the threads would have been coloured precisely during the manufacturing process as they were created, before they were even woven together), as well as the fabric content itself (artificial fabrics are much harder to dye than natural materials) tell me that these sheets were manufactured by machine, not made by hand.

4. These sheets must have been custom-made for this video, but they were made out of materials you would never want to actually use on your bed. This means that while they likely sourced them through one of the manufacturers they work with through danandphilshop, we're not likely to see the phedsheets as merch anytime soon; if they intended to sell us sheets, they would certainly not be made from polyester. It would be insane to sleep on polyester sheets because it doesn't breathe; sheets like that would simply be much too hot to sleep on. Plus, even though poly t-shirts are quite commonly made especially for merch purposes, d&p have always been very good about using natural materials in their merch.
