Yall I’m loving 20 minute D&D so much. I’m captivated by every party we’ve seen so far and I’m so glad I finally got to make some fan art from one of them 💖✨ Mika was the character I could best visualize and they’re also a lovable little agent of chaos so I couldn’t resist drawing them.

I think I spent 3.5 hours just on the sketch and linework and it absolutely shows. I’m super proud of the detail I was able to put into this whole thing and I want to try to add that to more of my pieces in the future.

The background was also super fun for me. I’m a reluctant desert dweller so I put a lot of home in this one. The bushes are loosely based on creosote bushes and I included both barrel cacti and the classic saguaro. I’m not sure how noticeable they are but there’s also a bunch of flowering palo verde trees scattered around. I was hoping to include some cholla and prickly pears as well but it would’ve made the background a bit too messy 😅

People don’t realize just how many plants there are out in the desert, especially in late winter. Winter is basically an extension of spring around here. The last few years they’ve been especially wet so all the plants have been popping off come the first week of February. Once you realize the sagebrush isn’t as crispy as it looks, things tend to feel a little more alive 😂
