"Surviving in the comfort of our homes" Acrylic painting. Most owners want all of their pets to be comfortable at home. Aquariums under 1 gallon like the @tetra.fish Betta Bubble (0.5 gallon) will confine a Betta to a non-stimulating lifetime of survival. The notion that Bettas enjoy tiny spaces comes from the fact that they can survive in small puddles during the dry season. These are unpredictable but short-term conditions in the wild that cannot be replicated in an aquarium designed to be a permanent home. Although marketed as low-maintenance, tanks under 1 gallon require water changes every 1-2 days. The average consumer does not know to perform such frequent water changes, so conditions can quickly become toxic for fish. Aquariums that are 5 gallons or above are a good starting point for Bettas, and require less frequent maintenance (weekly rather than daily).
