Translation: “#Assalamualaikum, I am Ashraff Rahman from IMARET and now, I am in #Petobo which is one of the worst affected areas by the recent #Disaster. As you can see, there’s a house on my left which the original house base was somewhere at the coconut trees at the back and were moved from there to here (by #Liquefaction). We just met the #Family owner of the house and they are still looking for things that can still be saved and used for them take with them. The area is really badly affected and I can’t imagine how everything happened. The locals were saying that it happened during the call for #Maghreb prayer for the #Muslims. Most of them were going to the #Mosque & taking oblation and that was exactly the time when the #Earthquake (and liquefaction) happened.” . It was my first time visiting a liquefaction affected site. I was shocked & devastated to see the scale of the #Destruction and knowing a lot of people died and missing from the event. The whole area was moving around 500m from the original spot and the ground was rising about 10m from the original level. Houses, cars and everything in the area was totally destroyed and swallowed by muds. This video is maybe only showing less than 5% of the real thing. Many were buried underground and this site is now literally a mass #Grave of probably at least hundreds of people. Other liquefaction sites are #Balaroa, #Sibalaya and #JonoOge. #Tsunami was at #Talise beach and earthquake everywhere. Around 5,000 are still feared missing all over Central #Sulawesi. .
