Honey Gourami Care Guide 🌿🐟
Looking for a peaceful and hardy fish that’s perfect for any level of aquarist?
Meet the Honey Gourami! 🧡
Native to the slow-moving waters of India and Bangladesh, these little beauties are built for adaptability, even in low-oxygen conditions, thanks to their labyrinth organ, which lets them breathe air.
Growing to just 2.5 inches, they’re a fantastic choice for small aquariums, thriving in tanks as small as 10 gallons. They absolutely love planted setups, especially those with broad-leaf plants for hiding and exploring, but artificial plants can work just fine too.
You’ll find them in stunning varieties like the true Honey, Gold Sunset, and wild-type—just be sure not to confuse them with more aggressive species like Red Honey or Three-Spot Gouramis.
These peaceful fish get along wonderfully with a wide range of tank mates, including shrimp!
Honey Gouramis are happiest in water temperatures of 74-82°F with soft to moderately hard water.
Feeding them is super easy; they’ll thrive on Bug Bites or similar granules, and you can spoil them occasionally with treats like bloodworms, daphnia, or cyclops. 🪱
What makes them extra special is their playful, peaceful nature. Whether they’re darting through plants, exploring their environment, or interacting with other fish, Honey Gouramis are always fun to watch.
If you’re looking for a low-maintenance, fascinating fish to brighten up your aquarium, the Honey Gourami might just be the perfect fit! 🌟
