Idk where to even start with them lol but I will give it a go. as a group they’re really fun bc of all of the interwoven dynamics… they’re basically a little gang that sticks together throughout the war and take care of each other <3 Johnny and Peter are the base of the group and the first of the ocs I made, they’ve been besties since they were kids, they’re like the definition of platonic soulmate, they’re the most important ppl in each others lives. ride or die. theyre on a rugby team together which is how they pick up James, who is newer to the area and needed something to do. Connor is both a longtime family frenemy of Peter’s and kind of strangely obsessed with james, and he reluctantly joins their little group aaaaaaaaand then they all kind of stick together after that!

Each of the boys needs a some love so here’s a bit of an abridged novel for each of them…

Robert Jonathan “Johnny” Drummond was the first guy I made, he’s a real rowdy and impulsive dude and can’t be left alone because he WILL find trouble/it will find him. like he got his nose broke because he pissed off some guy and got a wine bottle thrown in his face. It’s hard to talk about him without also talking about Peter bc they are so close haha, Peter is really good at reigning Johnny in when no one else seems able too. lol i love Johnny he’s such a troublemaker but got such a big heart and loves his friends more than anything,

Peter Murray is the big brother, both of the friend group and his own family. He’s got a rough home life that really drilled into him to need to look after everyone, to his own detriment. Incredibly responsible, believes in accountability and the simple pleasure of a job well done. Honestly he’s a really sweet guy with a big heart that he hides behind a stern and quiet exterior and that stick up his ass. He’s probably the chillest dude of the four. somehow has near infinite patience for Johnny and his antics and is really good at calming him down/redirecting all that energy into something productive. Is less patient with Connor lol

And sweet beloved James Logan, who is kind of absorbed into this friend group of people who have known each other for decades, is a bit overwhelmed by them. He’s sincere, shy, and a bit awkward with a tendency towards being a wallflower. He’s got a very sly sense of humor that catches people off guard. Seems subdued but is honestly just as insane as the rest of the guys, just stealthily, gets “dragged” into their shenanigans but has every opportunity to leave and chooses not to. definitely a stealth freak in that regard. He’s got kind of a sleepy expression that makes him look a bit dreamy, and even though he works really hard everything he does comes off as effortless. Is probably the only one not intimidated by Connor (he’s just some guy after all) and so can actually befriend him. They become really close during the war (hello secret freak4freak codependent homoromantic friendship that ends in tragedy)

I’ve talked a bit about Connor before but god what an ass. Everyone is his rival, everyone is also inferior to him. He is aggressive, blunt, and attention seeking. Under all of that he is very smart and honest and actually insanely loyal/devoted. Unfortunately no one really takes him seriously because he is so over the top with his boisterousness (he’s compensating) Becomes really attached to James, who is one of the only people he actually respects and holds up as an equal. There’s a bit of a possessive streak that runs through him - James is HIS best friend, HIS responsibility (and also his quasi romantic partner but that’s neither here nor there. Who said that.) whats that post that’s like “submissive like a guard dog is submissive” because that’s Connor to a T

This is all prewar stuff that sets up their dynamics before they go off to the front……………….. and that’s a whole other thing. I have a huge google doc of this shit. and god i didn’t even get to the officers or other ocs that are connected to this story. I need to draw them all more I’ve just been bobpilled this year lol
