As much as I love Canon!Alastor being Justice-adjacent as a character, what if AU!Alastor was like Patience-adjacent as an opposite for his possibly canon sin of Wrath?

Maybe Alastor and his mother switch personalities?

Amelie is a single “widowed” mother with an ever present smile. She’s the belle of New Orleans music scene and a secret serial killer disposing of very bad people to make the world safer for her son.

Alastor is her gentle and loving son who too pure for the world. He idolises his mother and like her overcame many difficulties to become the most popular voice on radio. He is an figurative angel on Earth.

Hmmm, if we're going for opposite of Wrath, what if rather than the Angel of Justice he was the Angel of Mercy?

It could also come with darker implications and provide a reason for Alastor to believe he belongs in Hell; what if Alastor had killed once during the war, a friend and fellow soldier who was beyond saving, and so he chose to put him out of his misery? In Alastor's mind, he may have killed with good intentions, but it was still an unforgivable sin.

So imagine his shock when years later he dies and wakes up in Heaven! Doubly so when he realises that his maman is not up there too! Clearly, something is wrong here, he decides, and somehow he uses his radio frequencies to connect to Hell, and either Rosie, Roo or Roosie answer before forging a deal to get to Hell.

Ooh, for extra fun, what if he hides his angelic status in plain sight by claiming to be a Periton Sinner?

And it would be interesting to imagine how Lilith and Charlie react to Alastor sprouting out wings from his back. Lucifer scrambling to do several things at the same time, trying to comfort Alastor through this transformation, figure out how to put "so you suddenly grown wings" pamphlet because apparently that's something that happens, and somehow compile it into evidence for Heaven that something abnormal is going on!

Growing antlers must drain a lot of calcium out of the body, so Alastor could recommend Bunny some calcium-rich foods while trying to figure out clothing modifications for the wings and probably mentally offering his condolences to Vaggie from his past life

Another fun fact, but this time about winged lion form of Michael in avatar of knowledge. The winged lions is occasionally called a Lion of Saint Mark (hence why there are a lot of winged lion symbols in Venice), and is part of Tetramorph (a line up of four winged creatures in Christian iconography). Winged lion could also be first of four beasts that came in a vision to Daniel, prophecising the end times. And other Christianity-related appearance of winged lion is Vapula, one of demons of Ars Goetia, who is a Great Duke of Hell and supposed to teach philosophy, mechanics and sciences!

Ironically, my favourite interpretation of peryton!Alastor is that wings are not from him being an angel, but rather something demonic. Maybe even them being akin to those of a raven, integrating the associations of knowledge, being an omen (of death or misfortune) or adding scavenger and trinket collecting aspects to his behaviour! Which then leads to design considerations of the tail (perhaps being of a wedge shaped feather configuration, and maybe trading cute little fluffy deer tail for something closer to one that Husk has for better flight steering, but keeping the fluff close to the tail base), neatly integrating raven feet and claws as hands for Alastor and feathers being black with green iridescence, similar to green sheen on his canon tentacles and green glow of his magic. And because common ravens are the biggest corvids, and due to general Alastor's height, the sheer size of those wings would be quite impressive, like a dome of darkness if he decides to envelop someone in them, terrifying for his enemies and comforting for his friends.

I am perhaps rambling, but wings and birds and mythological beings with wings are particular fascination of mine, so I can't help myself.

I saw that radio bit when I looked them up! I was like 'oh, they have a radio link too! This is fantastic they are perfect!'

Ooh, yes, raven wings - I see you raven wings and raise you red and black wings, to match Alastor's colour theme, but the size/shape of a raven's. And the black part can have that iridescent sheen, but I can see his wings being kind of bedraggled like his coat.

I am thoroughly attached to Alastor have a cute deer tail, so I prefer that then him having a long one - we've seen angels fly without tails, so I think it's not necessary for magical winged flight, you know?

But what do you think about a concept of peryton!Alastor? Aka human-eating, in possession of a shadow that changes shapes, winged deer? (And wings being in place of back tentacles, which already sorta behave like wings in some moments)

It probably wouldn't mesh well with Expired verse, since perytons eating humans by default goes into conflict with concept of prey type sinners (even if in real life a lot of prey animals are opportunistic carnivores or even opportunistic cannibals), because of the whole "not supposed to be there" thing. Not sure yet about Double Entry, Avatar of Knowledge and their offshoots, since I am just beginning to dig through all of the lore in this blog about them.

But in general, what do you think about Alastor being a peryton, as just a concept?
