Just know that whatever else is going on in my brain, there is part of my brain thinking about Percy Jackson every moment of every day. I am thinking about delinquent child with a good mom who got screwed by circumstances. I'm thinking about a young man who is a good leader, a good friend, who is ready to do anything (ANYTHING) to protect them. Someone who will die for their friends, who will give up 99% of his humanity to be what his community needs and will give that 1% right away to the young woman he trusts more than anyone. He's in love with her btw, but he hasn't figured that out yet.

I'm so certain that the reason Percy doesn't consider that he may appear like a threat, other than his internalized self depreciation, is because his perception of himself is Son of Sally Jackson, and that's where the core of his loyalty lies with, he is Sally Jackson's son and her strength is how he sees himself. While for other outside pov's he's the son of the sea god, but to him that's more of an explanation rather than an identity.
