Iโve seen a lot of criticism lately about how The Legend of Korra is too modern or even โwesternizedโ. But I havenโt seen any of these criticisms even acknowledge that the whole idea of the show in the first place is to be a Dieselpunk fantasy (thatโs why, among other things, mechs and airships are everywhere), but inspired by Asian culture and aesthetics.ย
Anyone else have a crappy middle-school relationship that was forced on you by a mutual friend who knew you both kinda liked each other, and you dated off and on for a couple years before your bf/gf actually ended it and you were just completely broken and to make it worse it was at your middle school dance that was supposed to be fun, and you were supposed to have your first kiss, becuase thatโs what that mutual friend said they planned to do, not shatter your fragile, young heart? You expected a wonderful thing and got broken instead? And you havenโt been in a relationship since that day because you put up this wall that keeps you from actually wanting anyone enough, because youโre terrified to love someone because you were damaged by one person in middle school, and you canโt even love yourself so how could you expect someone to love you, when you canโt even realize your own self worth? But you still care for that person, even though they ended up selling drugs and going to jail and just got out of a relationship and youโre still hurting for them, even though you havenโt seen them in years, but recently youโve been thinking about how damaged you are because of them? And how thereโs still a part of you that misses them, but you also hate them because youโre too terrified to find the one thing you want so bad, and you want to remember how it feels to love someone again? No, just me?
