On this day 12 years ago, I was flat ironing my then permed hair staring at myself in the mirror to not burn myself, and fell in love with the my brown color. My “brownness” as I called it, I struggled with not wanting to be called black because I was head over heels like why aren’t we called Brown, look at my brown and call it by it’s name….
