Federico Uribe was aanvankelijk schilder, maar raakte gaandeweg steeds meer gefascineerd door het gebruik van alledaagse voorwerpen.
Eén van de materialen die hij gebruikt zijn kleurpotloden. Niet om mee te tekenen maar als materiaal om composities te maken. Uribe noemt dit Pencilism. Is het kunst? De schoonheid der vrijster ligt in ‘s vrijers oog… Overigens: als goed Columbiaan, doet ie ook leuke dingen met munitie.

Federico Uribe born 1962 in Bogota, Colombia is a Miami-based conceptual artist who uses the writing instruments as his material in Color Construido, a series of eye-catching artworks.
Uribe regards his work as mostly conceptual, because while he employs the language of pop art through objects of daily life, he also includes references to art history and tradition. His work has been exhibited worldwide.
