“I am- ordering you, as your Queen, to perform your sacred duty as royal doctor, and help this child.”

After a moment, Dr. Pellas laughs. It peels out and gets louder, and then you open your eyes in surprise as Mom’s arms open some, and Dr. Pellas turns you over, looking close. You look at her eyes and see that familiar, ice cold hatred that makes you shake and your mouth dry up. She touches your forehead, and frowns, before opening your mouth and looking inside. You see something new in her eyes- a flash of recognition.

A smile spreads across her lizard face, wide and sharp and she laughs so hard she starts coughing, before she leans back against the frame of her front door.

“What?” Mom asks desperately, “What is it?!”

“I quit,” Pellas laughs, and slams the door.

- Prequel

Pellas hums against Lucien's skin, kissing his neck softly before pulling away a bit.

“Mmmmm... yes.”

He leans happily into the petting, blinking slowly.

“I... I like your piercing, a lot. S'fun.”

Lucien chuckles softly and continues to pet his head. "I'm glad I got it then, you enjoyed it so much, and it felt really good to have your mouth on it." Content to sit there while Pellas comes back to his senses, Lucien smiles at the man in front of him.

“Good, I'm glad. Was really nice to see you like that.”

Pellas smiles back happily, then stretches a bit, wiggling closer to Lucien.

“There's, mmm, water in the waterskin... could use that and one of the towels to clean off, if we don't want to go find a water basin or the showers.”

Yawning, Lucien nods. "I don't really want to leave the room again. Just want to cuddle. Could you find them for me?"

Pellas kisses Lucien softly on the cheek, and gets up, a bit wobbly, to find the waterskin and towel. He cleans his face off as best he can, and sits back down on the edge of the bed, offering a freshly wetted corner of the cloth to Lucien.

Lucien smiles and cleans his hands off with the towel, then leans back on the bed and hums. "Maybe we should swap sheets with the top bed too?" He feels a bit bad having Pellas do everything. "It's fine if you're tired though."

Pellas drops the towel off the edge of the bed, and turns to Lucien, kissing the tip of his nose.

“If you're, um, up for it, we could just move up to the top bed for a while? I'd help you... But if not, I can definitely change the sheets.”

Going up to the top bunk sounds like a much better (and easier) idea than switching the sheets. Lucien smiles and nods. "There's no harm in trying, and it'd be much easier than changing the sheets." Standing up, he holds his hands out to Pellas to help him up.

Pellas helps Lucien up, and they end up standing at the foot of the ladder. He guides Luce's hands to the sidebars, and stands behind him.

“Um, how about I come up behind you, and that way if you miss a rung I'll be right here?”

Lucien nods, nervously holding onto the railings. "O-Okay." He paces himself, taking it slow and making sure he has a good foothold before stepping up onto the next rung. It's slow, but he eventually manages to reach the top, breathing heavily as he backs up against the wall to make room for Pellas. "I made it," he says shakily, smiling wide. He doesn't yet contemplate how he's going to get down but they'll figure it out.

After spending the duration of Lucien's trip up the ladder torn between concern that Luce might fall and blatant admiration of his butt, Pellas pulls himself up the ladder into the top bunk, and flops down next to Lucien. He reaches out and pulls up the covers over them, then cradles Luce's face with one hand and nestles up next to him, kissing him softly on the forehead.

“You did great.” he murmurs to Lucien.

Lucien laughs softly, curling up against Pellas's body and kissing him softly. "I feel like I could do anything with you beside me." He yawns again, rests his cheek against Pellas's chest and sighs softly.

Pellas wraps his arms around Lucien and tangles their legs together, nuzzling the top of Lucien's head. He's very warm and comfy and suddenly a bit tired.

“Mmmm, you definitely can.” he mumbles. “I'm sure you can do anything... you set your mind to do.”

He kisses Luce's hair, breathes in his scent.

“Love you.” he murmurs, half-asleep.

He can't help but smile wide against Pellas's chest when the other man says he loves him. "You too." he mumbles softly, a slight flush spreading across his cheeks. It takes him a bit to calm down enough to fall asleep, and sleeps soundly curled up against Pellas.

Pellas smiles giddily at Lucien's words,and pulls him in a bit tighter, eyes sliding shut. It takes him only a little while to fall asleep, with how comfortable he is nestled together with Luce.
