Fishermen, from behind, watch the auction of their catch at the port of Fort Kochi, Kerala. The fish and shellfish will then go to the small markets of the city, or directly in the kitchens of restaurants. In some restaurants on the docks, you can even choose a fish directly on a stall and see it on your plate shortly after. Fashion point: these fishermen do not wear a skirt, but a lungi. It is a piece of rectangular fabric that is tied around the waist. The lungi can cover all the legs or fold up to cover only the top, as in the photo. There are different ways to wear it, depending on the region, religion, climate, ... but there are few variants compare with sarees.
