Garroth does not face an issue unless it’s literally invasive to his life or his friends are actively disturbed by it. I imagine a lot of it is because of family/ his dad and home life is a lot of “Watch and speak no evil”

but Laurance literally hates not addressing shit and letting people get away with crap and is quick to say something, even if slyly or passive aggressively or to someone else. Again, home life, middle school yada yada.

I imagine that in the beginning it’s really difficult for them to get along because Laurance hates playing goody two shoes. But Laurance isn’t unreasonable and knows he needs to change his attitude (for mama) and Garroth is dead set on them becoming friends and is willing to wait for him to come around.

It’s cute, it’s kind, and they become an inseparable duo

was go in depth into how/why each boy is actually sought after by their “fans” and making it actually affect them (love you Jess but those boys were too hot to be walking normally in the hallways talking to her so casually sometimes)

I crave 3 dimensional characters. Characters that can exist even off screen.

So I started theorizing their reputation

Laurance is the Pretty Boy (charming, sweet, alluring, he’s approachable but you stumble over your words talking to. He enjoys the attention a lot of the time but gets pretty upset if he’s too harassed in a day, not that any of his fans realize.)

Garroth is the Hot Guy (strong, charismatic, himbo energy , he’s the type that you CANT get close enough to talk to so you resort to screaming his name from the bleachers. I mean he’s rich, he’s blonde and blue eyed, he’s the Eurocentric standard of hotness)

They’re both like celebrities. Their both captains of a team and they seem to be SOMEONES type even if on a lowkey level. No one seems to have real ill will towards either of them, and even if they did, they definitely wouldnt outwardly.

Garroth is effing RICH and unapproachable mostly because of the people he keeps. Idiot or not, his friends aren’t ones to allow him to be taken advantage of. Then suddenly this seemingly sweet, charismatic boy appears right at his side and rumor has it he’s apparently a bad boy gone good?! You’re telling me that teenage girls weren’t FLOCKING?! They weren’t skipping classes to see them?!

it didn’t even have to be a plot invasive way, it would’ve been interesting if you could just see girls and guys being weird in the bg and the boys going “yeah they just do that” or “yeah it’s hard to get alone time without it being something” that’s INTERESTING it develops THEIR lives it causes certain circumstances where they can be scene with each other making the miscommunication that happens seem more NATURAL

In highschool they truly wee just in love and dancing around eachother, probably never made anything official but definitely were something in a way. Like nobody would really ask either out towards the end of their senior because it seemed like an unspoken thing that yeah they're eachothers own and they won't stray from eachother.

Like sure for most of highschool people were obsessed with them and they dated many people but I think that maybe as they realised they weren't going to see eachother often for a while as university approached they kind of became attached to eachother and kind of just. Stopped saying yes when asked out, stopped dancing with others at parties, just kind of removed themselves slowly from other people's advances. Maybe they kissed and fooled around a bit kind of as the urgent "oh my god I might not get to ever see this guy I love again and have the chance to do this, so I may as well do it while I can"

Idk their relationship throughout PDH seems like a playful ascent from goofy kids to anxious almost adults lol.

I do try and approach PDH from a more realistic approach for me, I obviously heavily headcanon is based largely on my personal highschool experience and the people around me lol, albeit I went to a public school in rural Australia and they go to a private school in?? But it looks fancy or at least middle upper class.

Like hooking up is something highschoolers do, parties and drugs are something at least the people at my school and area do. I've graduated now but i try to replicate a lot of the feelings I experienced as I realised I really was finishing highschool (although I didn't have the romance bit lol, just realising I'd never see a lot of my friends again).
