my synagogue hosted the Bereaved Families Forum after shabbat service on Friday and two women whose children has been murdered spoke. Ronnie had come from Israel and her son David was killed by a Palestinian sniper in 2002. Layla was zooming in from Bethlehem- her son was killed by an Israeli soldier when he was 6 months old in 2006. They are both peace activists and always included each other in their questions and managed to speak very honestly about the conflict while only taking the side of Peace. They have both spoken to the people who killed their children and work towards forgiving them- they say this is the only way to end the cycle of violence. They were the most amazing thoughtful and brave women and I was so thankful for them speaking and to my synagogue for hosting them and inviting me. I pray for peace and reconciliation.
