Dexter has always been a very hands-on learner. He preferred to hold things in his gloves instead of reading books. It was easier and quicker for him to understand that way.

That didn't mean he didn't enjoy the occasional trip to the library, however. Books that contained pictures and diagrams were often a suitable compromise.

Currently, he's engrossed himself in one such book. He has it laid out flat on the table and is tracing one of the images with his finger: a crisp photograph of a specimen of Helix pomatia.

He taps the side of his hand on the table, idly looking up. The rest of the library is empty, apart from the clerk working the main desk and another young child sitting at the opposite end of the foyer. Dexter hums, looking at the child with passing scrutiny. Fluffy ginger hair, large glasses, a small and somewhat pudgy stature…

…wait a minute.

His eyes linger on the other for a few more moments before he stands up, a bit more noisily than he meant to. He finds himself caring less and less about his noise level, though, as he steps closer and closer to the other occupant of the room.
