HI WELCOME TO AMBROSEβS MUSIC DIARY
hello iβm ambrose board certified music biatch & i am starting a little series where i chat about what iβve been listening to lately. get in loser we're going to music blog town!! credit to @lost-on-the-highway for the inspiration to actually blog on my blog.
ok enough ado. letβs get into it!
ALBUMS OF THE DAY 05.26.2026 (whoaaa there's a bunch today.... off to a good start)
1. WHY THE EYE ? - WHY THE EYE ?
fun fact i do not like electronic music. listened to the entire thing anyways because I had put it on in the car and didn't want to mess with my phone while driving in traffic. i did like a lot of the rhythms but on the whole it bugged the shit out of me. kinda made me feel like my skull was squeezing my brain. not a bad album per se but very not my taste. why did i do this
2. VOL. I - ANGINE DE POITRINE
everybody knows how i feel about angine de poitrine. do i have to say anything.
sike i am going to say things anyway because i am insane about this band. i donβt care i love them!!! the sheer technical musicianship on here is nuts and i am so so obsessed with the way khn's looping technique works together with klek's drumming. when klek changes time signature mid-song to subdivide the same loop phrase in a different way it's like crack for my tiny brain. angine forever!!!! πΊπΊπΊπΊπΊ
3. ABSOLUTE ELSEWHERE - BLOOD INCANTATION
i don't have a ton to say except that spacey prog death metal has my heart!! the balance of heaviness and melodic sensibility is really satisfying here. and everybody knows how i feel about odd time signatures done well. they do 5/4 so so right. i first heard this album in january and it's proven to be one that i keep reaching for :)
4. HIDDEN HISTORY OF THE HUMAN RACE - BLOOD INCANTATION
heard this for the first time today and i think i like it even more than absolute elsewhere!! personally i am a big fan of albums on the shorter side and this is 35 minutes of no filler at all. i love the dynamic arc of the album and i genuinely found myself hopping around headbanging in my kitchen during the final track. so nice i played it twice!!
5. PATCHE - PATCHE
shoutout to my friend @lost-on-the-highway for the recommendation! sorry for tagging you twice on the same post but i gotta give credit where credit is due. i've fallen so in love with the music scene up in north quebec. angine de poitrine, leparc, la poexe, pas de signal, and now patche... yess take me away.... every band i listen to from anywhere near saguenay, no matter what genre or tossed salad thereof, has this sense of fun and experimentation that i can't get enough of. very inspiring! yippee!
this one might not become as much of a repeat fixture in my listening rotation but it was a very nice vibe. simultaneously chill and whimsical. could see myself vibing at a show of theirs. fun <3
goodnight guys! chat soon :)
