I know people are being sentimental and uplifting with these saying their teenage self would be so proud and happy and in awe, but truth be told teenage me would rip my newly grown balls straight off my bussy

The temptation to go back to old me. Talking with the one person, sleeping constantly, and not being restricted on my negative coping mechanisms or whatever
HI
Am I gonna finally use this thing? I don’t even remember making it.

A friend of mine sent me a photo she had found of me. Its from around 2003, eighteen years ago. I certainly have aged well as I think I'm better looking now. But look how young I was! #pastme #babyface https://www.instagram.com/p/CQQvY5iHhYJ/?utm_medium=tumblr
Today I went through the bookmarks on an old browser. They were from years back, the high school years. This tumblr page was bookmarked. A website for illegally streaming tv too (this was before streaming services told you what you wanted to watch). There were all the online portal for high school. How shitty those were in comparison to the ones used in college that were imperative to your survival. And the very bottom there was a folder title “San Diego”. In it were all of the requirements for admission to SDSU and UCSD. There were the NCAA stats and freshman course requirements. There were pages bookmarked about deparments and programs at each school. There were even message boards for the “inside scoop”.
I’ve been feeling very down on myself lately. Having graduated into a pandemic, there wasnt much I could do career wise, but more importantly if there wasn’t a pandemic I still don’t have a clear career path or life path. It’s all foggy and I feel that every day I stay in the fog is one more day that my peers and those around me take another step forward while I fall behind. I’m frozen with indesicion while they all take calculated moves forward. It’s not that I’m not as smart or not as lucky or even not as connected, it’s that I’m too scared of making the wrong decision and going on the right path that I am refusing to go down any path. I have this deep fear that I have gone no where since I made this bookmarks 8 years ago.
But that’s not true. Those bookmarks are proof that I have done something. I got in to both SDSU and UCSD. And I CHOSE to go outside my comfort zone and not go to the university of the socially dead. I played for the D1 NCAA team. Sure it was only for 3 weeks but it was a toxic environment that steered me to some of the best people in my life. Not only did I get in and play water polo, but I graduated early and I help my team place third in a national championship. I got my heartbroken and survived online school in the same year! Past me wouldn’t be disappointed. She got everything she wanted and more. She would be so proud that we aren’t crippled by panic attacks any more and have the displine to start baby routines that are having huge impacts on our lives. She would be so proud that our coworkers think I’m kind and funny and not a terrifying bitch. She wouldn’t care that I still have no life path because it would make her feel better about not having it together then. She would be so proud. Future me so should probably take a lesson from past me and be proud of how far we’ve come because we have come so so far.
PastMe
I recently learned about this website, FutureMe, where you can write letters to your future self. What if there was one you could write to your past self, called PastMe? Obviously, not to your actual self, but you would specify what teen angst you were addressing, how you feel about it now, regrets, advice, etc. Did you fight with your mom a lot? Are you BFFs now? What caused the change? Did you cut ties with her instead? Why? Do you regret it? And people could search by relevant topic (i.e. rural small town, alcohol, parties). And since you’ve been through it specifically, you could speak their language in a way that parents can’t, encourage them or show them what mistakes can cost them if they continue down that path.
Does that exist?
