@jesslicious22 Daghang Salamat! Finally, I got to try some #delicious #tausug dishes from JessLicious! Lami and affordable!! Here are the dishes that I tried: •DARAL is Filipino dessert crêpe rolled into a cylinder and filled with sweetened coconut meat (#hinti). It originates from the Tausug people of the Philippines. #daral • PASTIL de Sug , In short the Tausug Pastil merely looks like an “Empanada,” and being stuffed with Bihon and bean sprout inside. Once it is cooked it is best eaten with a well prepared sauce made of vinegar with hot chili. It is popular dish in Jolo and Zamboanga especially during Merienda. And now it’s Available in Cebu. #pastil #pastikdesug S A T T I - is grilled meat dish served on skewers from Mindanao, Philippines. It is related to the Indonesian sate or satay. It is particularly popular in Tausug cuisine. This exotic food, for the Tausug’s, is a breakfast food, though you can have it for Lunch and Dinner as well. The Delicious sauce is the secret to this Dish. #satti • PUTLI MANDI Putli mandi, is a Filipino dessert steamed rice cake originating from the Tausug and Yakan people of Sulu. It is made from glutinous rice dough (though it can also be made with cassava) rolled into balls and filled with sweetened coconut strips (hinti). #putlimandi #kalamicebu #jesslicious #eatlocal #eatsmorefuninthephilippines #itsmorefuninthephilippines https://www.instagram.com/p/ChMBEcApI4Q/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

GREAT FIND: A leveled-up #Pastil experience awaits you at The Uptown Place at Purok Malakas where Mama El's Pastil Atbp. has opened shop right smack at the entrance. They’re basically an Al Fresco diner so be ready to rock and roll! Owners Mark and Ella were around that night so I was able to gather some tidbits: 1) #MaMaEl is not one person. Actually #MaMaEl are owners Mark, Macoy and Ella! Three individuals who got together because of their love for food! 2) Their idea to provide a memorable #Pastil experience was a result of a number of brainstorming meetings that sometimes ended with hot tempers. But again, their love for food always prevailed! 3) They will remain to true the origins of #Pastil — no pork sidings will ever be served. #MuslimChow 4) Adding #Ngohiong was a stroke of genius! This Cebu staple food is a perfect match to their #Pastil bento box! I must say that they got their variant so like Cebu’s! Sa Sobrang Sarap ambilis maubos so come early or order for delivery! 5) Their #Pastil quesadillas though tasteful needed to be improved as I find it too oily. A little tweak can perhaps make the difference. 6) The biggest takeaway is that they now sell #Pastil in a jar! How’s that for leveling up! #EatsTerrific ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 💫 (at The Uptown Place) https://www.instagram.com/p/CW-W6YYgG6b/?utm_medium=tumblr
