This is the new Vivienne Westwood campaign featuring Naomi Cambell. This short video gives us an insight into what the collection will be like but the most interesting aspect about this campaign is that it is built on loyalty and friendship: Campbell fell on the runway in 1993 fro Westwood’s F/W collection and since then Naomi Campbell’s fame rocketed. It is clear that this campaign is based on a long friendship where Westwood helped launch Campbell’s career even further.

This collection is very similar to S/S 2020 in terms of styling and casting but it is less dramatic in terms of set. The focus on this collection is the actual product whereas in S/SM 2020 we see more of a defined image. 

This collection is youthful and quirky. It reminds me of fashion week when everyone is experimenting with new cuts and materials. What I love about this shoot is that there are 4 different backgrounds which mean she is building a larger image of who her target market is. We see a mix of protester/eco warrior and edgy urban sets. 

What I really loved about this collection was the use of famous faces to show off just simple t-shirts. As I have said before, t-shirts are a Westwood staple so it made sense that the whole shoot was simple with a clear message on the tee. 

Very similar to the Fall 2001 collection, this collection again is very mild for Westwood. I think she tried to pair back her Red Label youth collection as younger audiences might not be so keen on wearing Westwood’s more outrageous fashion. 

What I do like about this collection is her range of model’s ethnicities: the Westwood brand is very inclusive and I feel, really represents all women. 

Firstly, the RED LABEL by Vivienne Westwood is a younger version of her brand such as MUI MUI for Prada. Overall, the looks are baggy with different layers and textures. The looks are very relaxed but still finished with a high level of style. There were lots of suits which made me think about aristocracy and “the big bad business man” which Westwood often tries to push against politically. My favourite part of the show was seeing female models in masculine cuts. Again, we see Westwood blurring the lines between genders. I also loved the belt over the jacket idea: this is something I would like to incorporate into my styling.

Whilst watching this show I became more interested in the different ideas Westwood put into the creativity. Firstly, the mix of poems and speeches made it almost like a theatre show combined with a protest: it was more engaging to watch as it was more thought provoking. The styling side of this show was pure Vivienne Westwood aesthetic. There were layers, graphic t-shirts and graffiti like designs.
