The things I can accomplish when the pressure is on never cease to astound me. And how much I manage to procrastinate right up to the end. But it is those projects that don’t have a concrete deadline that are still sitting in their respective project bags and shelves - the dark underbelly of an artist’s procrastination. But here I am in the throws of production - hand sewing - and calm as a cucumber, for it is here that I find peace. Here, 3 days left of prep time before our wedding, with one dress down, another almost ready, and mine - wearable but unfinished - dancing around in my head. The pressure gives me focus. It gives me reason to sit and sew. And my chosen life partner is the reason it can work with our two young kids, for all he does all the time - picking up on the childcare, cleaning, and cooking when he gets home from work and they are hanging off of me while I carry around my sewing project, a needle pinched between my teeth. Oh, and he takes photos for me 😘
