ooooooh i like this!! okay, so this may or may not be lifted from an old fic in my wips - enjoy!
something akin to panic and adjacent to longing stirs in buck's gut as his eyes catch on those all too familiar freckles littering the man's chest as he changes. "uh, who's that?" he manages to choke out.
"eddie diaz, new recruit." bobby replies cheerfully, and buck's brain just about short circuits because holy shit it's eddie. as in his sort-of-not-really-boyfriend-but-more-than-friend eddie diaz.
chimney, bobby and hen begin to move towards eddie, and buck knows he needs to tell someone before he explodes. he manages to catch hen by the arm, and he must have the word panic written all over his face because, like the good friend she is, she doesn't say anything, just drags him over to the side.
"buck, what is it? you look like you've seen a ghost."
"i'm pretty convinced i have." he mumbles, taking a deep breath as he turns to her. "okay, so i know eddie."
"...okay? i knew you before you started at the station, i don't see why it's such a big deal."
buck groans internally, fighting through the mortification. "no, hen. i know eddie."
she pauses for a second before her eyes widen, and she points to him frantically. "you mean, the guy you started seeing after abby -"
"mhm. it's- we're still- it's new, okay. we're figuring out what it is, what we are. and i knew he was going through the academy but i never mentioned what station i work at and now -"
"now things just got a whole lot more complicated." hen sympathises, resting a hand on his shoulder.
"yeah." buck sighs, the back of his head hitting the wall as his eyes lock onto eddie's, seeing shock flash through him like a lightning bolt. "you could say that again."
