[Scene: I'm looking through a Genius Hour homework packet with Beth, age 11...]

Me: "It says here you have a log sheet to complete."

Beth: "Yes, but you notice in the requirements, they never say you have to fill it out."

Me: "But it says you have to turn it in."

Beth: "But it never says you have to fill it out!"

Me: [flips through packet again] "Technically, you are correct." [faux conversation] "'So, what is your Genius Hour Project?' IT'S ABOUT HOMEWORK LOGIC."

Their son (who has Aspergers) has been pestering this girl at his school (at which they are educators) and they haven’t once addressed to him the fact that if a girl tells you no, it doesn’t matter if it is logical or not what you want, that no is to be respected.
