Almost 50 years ago, a Scottish academic named David Abercrombie told the world that while we speak with our vocal organs, we converse with our entire bodies. The study of what we now refer to as paralanguage soon made its way out of peer-reviewed journals and into the mainstream world of motivational speakers and self-help coaches.

"Excuse me?" For clarification or daring to repeat
"I wouldn't say that" when disagreeing but without saying anything
"I never thought of it that way" "it's interesting that you think that" ditto
"That's interesting" when you have nothing to say and it sounds boring
"What makes you say that?" When you don't want to correct them on something insulting but you want them to explain their thought process
"I appreciate your concern for me" when they talk down to you or go out of their way to make you feel small
"That was such a great story" "it was so great hanging out" with no further questions, no present tense, and no initiation to meet again -- ending the conversation or outing, lack of enthusiasm

[News] Will Samson präsentiert neuen Song “Beyond The Dust”
Der amerikanische Musiker Will Samson veröffentlicht am 06. Dezember sein neues Album “Paralanguage” über Wichita Recordings und mit “Beyond The Dust” kurz vorher noch einen weiteren Song.
Über den Track sagt Samson: “’Beyond the Dust’ originates from an old song that I co-wrote with my good friend, Heimer, way back in 2014,” Samson explains. “There was something about the chords, particularly when played on piano, that really stuck with me. It's essentially a song to remind myself to be grateful. 'Pray for the darkest night that brings the morning' simply acknowledges that the difficult experiences are the ones that often bring about the most growth.”
