The sun was just beginning to dip below the horizon and the first signs of stars were already beginning to dot the sky. It was another reminder of how beautiful things could be outside the city, where nights were lit by skyscrapers instead, and you were never far from another person.
She breathed in the sharp, cool air. Even if winter was her least favorite season, she still loved the clarity that came from cold nights and mountain air.
“After all these years, I still don’t know why they chose to put the hot tub outdoors of all places. It’s freezing.” Taylor huffed behind her.
Carter turned, walking backwards down the fairy lit path. “You do know,” she said, fondly. It was a question Taylor had posed every single year they’d come up to the mountains together and Carter had long since stopped trying to answer seriously. It was nice to know that some things never changed though.
“Come on.” She reached out, pulling Taylor’s hand out from where it had been ungracefully tucked under her arms for warmth. “You’ll remember why you love it in two seconds,” she promised, pulling her onto the deck that overlooked the entire mountain range.

Grace still wasn’t feeling 100%. Her boss at the diner could tell that she wasn’t herself. But she tried not to let it interfere with her work. Thankfully she had Lia for support when she got home. She was staying with Lia until she could find another place to stay. Lia didn’t want her going back to staying in motels, but they were what she could afford. She had an audition today, so hopefully she got the part to bring in some more money.
The audition went well. At least she thought it did. It was all up to the casting agency at this point. She wandered the halls in search of Lia. She knew she was working today, since she left the apartment this morning after they had breakfast. “Excuse me, can you possibly page Rosalia Lombardi up here, please? Just tell her she has a visitor?” she asked a desk clerk sweetly. The man just nodded and got Lia on his headset. “She’s on her way up,” he told her. Grace thanked him and waited around. Hopefully she wasn’t busy.
Alex tossed his phone to the side, quit the game he’d been playing before Clara had texted him, and ran a hand through his hair. No matter how hard he thought about it, he couldn’t think why Clara wouldn’t want him looking at her. The only reason he could think of was that someone had physically hurt her and she was trying to hide it or something. Just the thought of that made him angry, and Alex was trying incredibly hard to stay calm. He didn’t want to go down that path unless he absolutely had to.
Moving the controller next to his phone, Alex glanced down. Right. He’d been playing video games in his underwear since he had the place to himself probably all night, and putting on pants would probably be a good idea before Clara arrived. Jumping off the couch, he grabbed the pair he’d been wearing before off his bed and put them on. He was just buttoning them up when he heard the door open, and the next second, Clara was storming into his dorm.
Not for the first time that night, Clara found herself longing for her 21st birthday. It was only a few short months away, which was exactly how long this date felt like it was lasting and she would kill for a shot of one of the hundreds of tequilas lining the walls of Luccharitos. She had been coming to the restaurant since it had opened though and she knew better than to try and fool Marc with her fake ID. Plus, she figured that would make Alex even more awkward than he already was.
It hadn’t been hard to notice at Gallery North, when she had run out of technical things to say about the landscape exhibition but here, in the brightly colored room of Luccharitos, where everyone else was having a great time, it was especially noticeable. They’d barely spoken all day and it was getting more awkward as time went on. Clara spared him a glance and knocked her knee into his. “Looks like our teams are playing each other this weekend,” she said, nodding towards the tv where the announcer was talking about the upcoming Mets vs Yankees game. “Five bucks says we sweep you.”
Thanksgiving had been so much better than she could have dreamed. They’d made quite the meal throughout the day all the while completing a puzzle. They’d both needed a fun holiday and in the company of one another they were able to achieve exactly that. Today they’d bundled up and went to the farm to cut down a Christmas tree. Yes, the blonde had been picky but as Henri would remark to her sister Mere had gone easy on her. Once the tree was home and standing proud in the living room they dressed it with white lights and lit a fire. For now that was all that would go on the tree. Finishing up in the kitchen Meredith brought in two steaming mugs of hot chocolate and cozied up beside the brunette. “You’re leaving tomorrow.” She said after a moment of silence.
It had been a long time since Evan had spent a Thanksgiving with someone that she cared about; and it had been great, getting to do so with Meredith, even if it had left a bit of longing in regards to not truly getting to spend another holiday with Henri. The meal had been delicious and the company warming, and it was easily now going to be one of her favorite Thanksgiving memories. Furthermore, the tree retrieval had been fun too. Mere had taken a while, but Evan couldn't complain when it had brought such a light to her eyes. When they had finished up the first part of the tree and had settled, Evan let out a soft sigh. “I am.” She agreed with a nod, adjusting her body to slide closer to the blonde.
Meredith took a long sip from the steaming mug before setting it in the coffee table. Feeling the brunette shift closer she settled comfortably against her. “....I know it’s selfish but… I don’t want you to go.” She admitted softly. Taking one of the older woman’s hands into her own she laced their fingers. Harold hopped up onto the end of the couch closest to the blazing fire and curled up to take a snooze giving a little snarf in their general direction.
She smiled softly and kissed the woman's head, squeezing her hand a bit more tightly. “I don’t really want to go either. But I need to.” Evan said, rubbing her thumb across her knuckles. “I'll be back soon though. And we're going to talk everyday.” That she knew was true because of the rules that were set in place. “So you won't have time to miss me.” She knew that wasn't exactly how it worked, but she could at least pretend a bit.
“Oh, no?” The blonde was certainly skeptical. Blue eyes glanced up giving her a little raise of that perfectly arched brow. “I highly doubt that.” She knew she’d miss her every day and that made her stomach twist into knots. Leaning into the older woman a little bit more, she grabbed the knit blanket from the back of the couch and pulled it around them.
“No. Chicago is great as a city and I do enjoy my job; but being away from you will suck.” They really hadn't known one another for long, but Meredith had managed to work her way into Evan's heart. She smiled as the blanket was pulled around them, letting go of Meredith's hand to wrap her arm around her, her hand resting comfortably against her side. “Wanna know a secret?” She mused, resting her forehead against Meredith's temple. “Being away from you will be one of the most difficult things I've ever done.”
It made it a tiny bit better that Evan would be finding it just as hard. Feeling that arm wrap around her body made her smile. She hummed in response to the question with a small nod. The closeness felt too good and yet just right. “Ever?” She was surprised to hear that but it sent a warmth through her that she couldn’t explain.
She was pleased when Meredith seemed content, her hand gently smoothing along her side. “Mhmm, there are just a couple of things that are at the top of the list...and this is definitely up there now.” She admitted, wanting to be as honest as she possibly could. “Just gonna have to keep reminding myself that I'll be back here soon enough.”
The blonde smiled a little more. Turning her head, she kissed the brunette’s cheek gently. “It’s nice knowing I won’t be alone in those feelings.” She admitted. These next few weeks would be entirely too difficult, the rules would help for sure but still… her heart would feel a little empty.
Evan smiled, a small flush covering her cheeks as lips pressed against her skin. “You definitely are not alone in those feelings, beautiful.” Evan mused, squeezing her side before taking a sip of her drink. “I promise to do whatever I can to make it not so bad okay? So you just need to tell me if there's anything I can do to make it better.”
Her cheeks flushed a soft shade of pink when Evan called her beautiful. Biting gently into her lower lip she glanced at the crackling fire. All she really wanted to do was tell her to stay, that’s what she could do. But she’d done so much already. A lot could happen in the span of a few weeks, they’d just proved that. Meredith couldn’t deny that she had feelings for her sister in law.
She lifted her hand to trail her fingers through light locks, letting out a soft breath as she enjoyed the warmth that was surrounding them, even as it was tinged with sadness. She could hear the soft snores coming from Harold and she chuckled softly before shaking her head in amusement. He was quite the character. “I’m glad you at least have him here with you.”
The younger woman leaned into the touch giving a soft hum. Her eyes followed Evan’s to the snoring pup and she let a soft laugh slip past pink lips. “Lazy cakes.” A playful roll of blue eyes was given. “So am I. He’s perfect.” Soft fingertips traced patterns lightly on the woman’s thigh. “He’ll miss you too. Especially when I have to go off to work.”
The muscles in her thigh tensed for a moment as patterns were drawn through her clothes, letting out a soft breath before she relaxed into the touch. It was fairly intimate but far from the most intimate thing they had done which was saying something; and it also felt really nice, to be close to her this way. “I’ll miss him too. You’ll have to make sure I can facetime with him too.” She teased gently, glancing at the blonde.
She felt the muscles react to her touch and only smiled a little when the woman relaxed. Another small laugh left her and she nuzzled into the brunette. “You’ll get to FaceTime him and I’ll send you all the photos of us and then eventually you’ll be back. Cause you promised.” She glanced up with a smile, fingers still tracing patterns over her thigh.
“I am most definitely going to be back, gorgeous. You don’t have to worry about that.” Evan said, holding her close and kissing the top of her head. “I look forward to all of the pictures you’re going to send me, that’s for sure.” Evan mused gently, being honest in the ways that she could. She couldn’t admit that she definitely liked Meredith in a more than platonic way, but she could give little pieces of the truth.

Who: obi-sam-kenobi & mckinley-s-smythe
When: Valentines Day (Monday Evening)
Where: Secluded area just outside of Lima
What: Sam surprises Sebastian with a very romantic Valentines date, which actually goes better than either of them could’ve anticipated.
Sebastian wasn't sure what to expect as he made his way to the Lima Bean to meet Sam, Valentines Day wasn't really his thing, and he knew that if Hunter could see him now then he'd probably be laughing at him. Still, he'd already agreed to it so he knew he couldn't really back out of it now, and deep down, he didn't think he wanted to. Neither of them were really sure what their relationship was, Sebastian hadn't really wanted to bring it up, because he wasn't someone who discussed emotions freely. He pulled up just outside, rolling his eyes at the amount of pink and red in the window, and waited for Sam, hoping that the other wouldn't be much longer, there was only so long he could put up with nauseating couples before turning around and going back home.
Sam was waiting for his order to be made when he noticed Sebastian pull up close to the coffee place. He couldn't help but smile a little as he realized he was spending Valentines evening with Sebastian. Sam loved this day, was a total romantic by heart. He knew he'd been taking a big change on preparing the whole evening before he even asked Sebastian but he wanted the evening to be perfect so he made snacks and everything yesterday evening. Hearing his name he took his order from the barista and made his way outside, with picnic basket and all, grinning as he approached the car.
Sebastian perked up slightly, noticing Sam approach the car, winding down the window and leaning out of it slightly to greet the boy in question. "Hey there, Tiger, fancy seeing you here," he winked, unlocking the car so that Sam could join him. He quickly helped him with the basket he was carrying, placing it onto the back seat, then leaning across the car so that he could capture Sam's lips in firm kiss, "I've been waiting to do that all day," he told him with a grin, his thumb skimming across Sam's cheek for a moment, using the time to take in the sight of Sam sitting this close to him, before pulling back and turning the car on. "Ready to go, or have you got anything else you need to sort out?"
Sam chuckled lightly as he passed the basket to Sebastian. "Hi, such a surprise." he said as he placed the drinks he gotten them in the cup holders. He turned just in time to catch Sebastian's movement and leaned in to meet him halfway, kissing him back. "Me too," Sam admitted as he leaned into the touch of Sebastian's hand, smiling up at him. "It feels so good to be able to do this and not worry who sees." He sat back in his seat, buckling up his seat belt. "No, all ready to go to 'our' spot."
Sebastian chuckled fondly as his thumb skimmed gently over Sam's cheek, "I told you, Babe," so he was a little but smug, but he couldn't help it, besides he'd known all along that Sam would feel so much better once everything was out in the open, although a part of him was going to miss the sneaking around, because that was definitely a turn on for him. "Though I'm sure there's a lot more we can do other than kissing, if you really want to make an impact on people," he told him with a wink, before turning on and reversing out of the spot. "So it's 'our spot' now is it?" he teased, checking his mirror before finally pulling away from the curb and beginning their short journey. "So, does this count as an official date now...? You know, being Valentines and all that?" he asked, not that he minded, since he was sure that things would remain the same between them no matter what, but Sam was into this kind of thing, so Sebastian thought it would be good to know in advance.
Sam swatted at Sebastian's chest playfully. "A little less smug please, but yes you did.." He rolled his shoulders, "I just needed a little push in the right direction I guess." He liked it that he could now just barge into a locker room in search of his boyfriend because he wanted to steal a kiss or two and not worry about anyone finding them. A blush crept up his cheeks as images from their last non date passed before him. "I don't think McKinley is ready for that. maybe some kissing while sitting in your lap during lunch?" Sebastian had been right, Sam was turning into a bit of an exhibitionist after all the things they've been up to. "Hm mm, besides it sounds way better then calling it that place we went to first day we met. Such a mouth full" Sam turned a little in his seat, looking at Sebastian. "I kinda like that reasoning. So this is our first official date then? Awesome." Sam grinned. "I got you some coffee, hope I remembered it correctly."
Sebastian shrugged his shoulders slightly, he supposed Sam had a point, it had been different for Sebastian, he'd never had to come out, because people had always sort of known, and if they hadn't, then it was their problem, not his. But, he could understand why Sam had been cautious, luckily that was all over and done with now. As much as Sebastian was going to miss the secrecy, he was quite looking forward to being able to sneak up on Sam whenever he wanted, to press his lips against his ear and just watch as he melted against him. That was definitely going to be fun to do in public now. "Hm, I think I could be persuaded to agree to something like that," he grinned, quite liking the sound of it the more he thought about it. Sure, people would probably talk, but Sebastian couldn't give two fucks what anyone else thought. His eyebrows shot up when Sam confirmed his suspicions, chewing on his lip for a second before glancing back at Sam, "I don't think I've had an official first date before," he mused, turning his attention back to the road in front of him. "Thanks Babe, did you remember the shot of cognac?"
Sam chuckled lightly. "I knew you'd see it my way." Sam let his hand slide onto Sebastian's thigh, giving it a soft squeeze. "There's always a first time for everything, even dates and Valentine dates." He mentioned before nodding his head. "Yep, there should be a shot of Cognac in there." Sam was good at remembering small things like that. Textbooks he had trouble remembering but things he'd noticed from real life he stored in memory right away. "Will help with staying warm. That's probably the only thing not that great about this whole underneath the stars picnic. It's no summer yet." He shrugged his shoulders. "We'll just have to keep each other warm."
Sebastian glanced down at the hand on his thigh, smirking a little to himself, it seemed that Sam coming out had definitely given him a confidence boost and Sebastian was loving it already. "Yeah, I guess so," he shrugged, not really wanting to get into it right now, not when something like that could over complicate things between them when they were already so simple. "I've taught you well," he teased, placing his hand down on top of Sam's, giving it a slight squeeze before moving it back onto the wheel, a smug little grin on his face. He turned the corner, taking them off the main road and up onto a little side road that he'd found years ago, getting them closer to their destination. "I'm sure that could be arranged, Babe, play your cards right and we might not even need the blankets,"
Sam shook his head a little, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "You did." was all he replied , turning his eyes back on the road. That one time Sebastian taken him to this spot Sam had liked the place, all remote and private, and he'd opened up to Sebastian talking about all kinds of things. Going back had been something he wanted to do for a while now and today being Valentines day was the perfect excuse for it. So Sam was a total romantic, he never hid it from anybody, he was who he was and people just had to deal with his little quirks. Hearing Sebastian's words he couldn't help but chuckle. "I like the sound of that, we'll see." He unbuckled his seat belt as they arrived at their spot, removing his hand from Sebastian's knee, giving it another squeeze before he did. "Can you take our drinks? I'll go set up the plaid and everything." Sam asked as he turned in his seat to reach for the basket.
Sebastian parked the car, turning back to Sam for a moment, a part of him didn't want to leave the comfort of the car, mostly because he wasn't sure of Sam's expectations for the night, and he wasn't sure whether he could meet them. But then the other part, thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the other boy, especially here when they were completely alone. So, he reached across the car, catching Sam off guard with another gentle kiss, "You got it, Babe," he told him, pressing another quick kiss to his lips, before reaching down between them and picking up their coffees and getting out of the car, sliding his keys into his back pocket. Sam looked so excited right now, probably the happiest he'd ever seen him that didn't involve anything sexual, and he quite liked that.
Sam smiled into the gentle kisses. "Thank you," he said breathlessly, smile still on his lips. He moved to finally pick up the basket and got out of the car. Walking around he found the perfect spot for them to sit down and placing the basket on the ground he got out the plaid he'd packed for them to sit on and spread it out. "I like this place.. it's like we're not even close to a town here." He mentioned as he laid out the snacks he made, mostly fruits and he managed to sneak some of the oatmeal cookies Rachel had made out of the house. He frowned when his hands got in contact with something cold and solid, finding a bottle of wine hidden in the basket. "Huh, looks like one of Rachel's dad thought we could use this." He said, holding the bottle up for Sebastian to see. "Any good?" he asked as he had no clue if it was or wasn't a good wine.
Sebastian followed Sam towards a small clearing, separating them from the rest of the world, smiling as he watched Sam set everything up, he wanted to help since he felt lame just stood there, but he didn't want to get in the way either, so he waited, only sitting down when he was sure that Sam was finished, handing him his coffee in the process. "It's kinda why I like coming out here," he admitted, the first time was just about seeing how far into Sam's pants he could get, but it was a little different now, he didn't need to try so hard, and he felt like he could talk to him more too, "I used to come here all the time when I was home from school, when my parents were constantly going at each other," he shrugged, taking a sip of his coffee, sighing contently as it hit the spot. His eyebrows shot up in surprise when Sam presented him with a bottle of wine, reaching out and taking it from him, examining the bottle. "Not too bad," he said eventually, placing it on the ground between them, and wrapping an arm around Sam's waist and tugging him a little closer, burying his face into the crook of Sam's neck, "So who else knows about us, Babe?" he asked, since he didn't think that they were there yet, the whole public thing, especially since Sam had just come out this morning.
Sam took his coffee from Sebastian and taking a sip. A latte done just right, with extra milk in it to soften the coffee flavor. His head snapped up when he heard Sebastian tell him why he came here before. "Sorry to hear that." He frowned a little as Sebastian seemed to shake it off. He wanted to ask more but seeing Sebastian's shrug he decided against asking about it now, storing the information for later. Sam leaned back against Sebastian, lacing their fingers together. "Well, Rach and her dads, I told Tina I was having a picnic with you but that's it, I think." He hadn't really spoken to that many people after Spencer had taken that picture and placed it on his Instagram. So it still made him feel like someone could get weird about it, they were just holding back at the moment. "So not that many. But just knowing I can kiss you without people freaking out cause they had no idea I was even into dudes is amazing. I don't really care if they know about us or not." Sam reached for one of the small boxes and popped it open. "Want one?' he held a strawberry up close to where Sebastian's face was buried in his neck.
Sebastian shrugged off all talk about his parents, the only person he really spoke to about any of that was Hunter, but he could feel himself more willing to talk to Sam now, a feeling he didn't think he'd have if he was honest. He smiled softly as Sam laced their fingers together, giving his hand a gentle squeeze, burying his head into the crook of Sam's neck as he answered his question, "Hm, okay," he murmured, not really bothered all the same, they could figure all that out later, he was just glad that Sam wasn't getting ahead of himself this early on. His lips curled into a smirk as Sam continued, lifting his head and leaning around Sam so that he could capture his lips in another kiss, "I like that too," he grinned, letting his lips linger against Sam's, quite enjoying the intimacy between them. He didn't feel like they were on a timer, like they had to rush through everything before they could return to normality, so they could definitely make the most of their time together this evening. He blinked as Sam moved forward, arching an eyebrow as he popped open one of the boxes, though his expression softened as he picked up one of the strawberries and held it up to his lips. Now this was something he wasn't used to at all, and it was probably the most cliche thing he could think of, but he decided to humour Sam all the same, shifting slightly and wrapping his lips around the strawberry as he took a small bite, the juice dripping slightly from the corner of his mouth.
Sam licked his lips, eyes following Sebastian's every move. Okay maybe not such a smart move to make if he wanted them to have a nice evening with cuddles and just talking and staring up the stars for a while. All he could think about now was something completely different. He swallowed as Sebastian's teeth scraped the tip of his fingers, shifting a little. "You -"he ran his thumb over the corner of Sebastian's lip, clearing away the juice. "had a little something here." he finished breathlessly.
Sebastian chewed lightly on the strawberry, his eyes flicking down to follow Sam's thumb as he ran it over his lips. He felt his body shivering slightly at his touch, which definitely caught him off guard, but it felt good, like for once someone sort of cared about him. He gave Sam a small smile, tilting his head a little to get a better look at the boy in his arms, "Look at you, looking after me," he whispered, resting his head on Sam's shoulder, fingers curling into his side as he reached around him, picking up another strawberry and offering it out to Sam, pressing a kiss to his neck, "Maybe you convincing me to come tonight wasn't such a bad thing after all," he murmured against his neck, waiting for Sam to take the first bite.
Sam smiled softly as he tilted his head so he could kiss Sebastian's lips gently. "I like looking after you." He admitted as he leaned back and rested his back against Sebastian's chest. He wasn't lying when he said those words. Sam liked taking care of the people he held dear in his heart and he found that Sebastian was one of the people who was on that list. "I know I'm totally biased being the one who planned this but I think it's going to be a great night." He closed his lips around the offered strawberry, taking a bite.
Sebastian tightened his arm around Sam's waist as the other leaned back against him, letting out a content sigh. He couldn't really remember the last time he'd felt so comfortable with one people, but Sam was quickly filling that void that he hadn't realised had been there all along. He chuckled softly, shaking his head affectionately at Sam as he spoke up, nipping gently at his earlobe. "Far be it for me to stop you," he shrugged, not that he was one of those people who craved to be looked after, because he wasn't, he'd been so independent for so long now that letting someone else in took a lot of hard work for Sebastian, but somehow Sam was breaking down those barriers with effortless style. "Yeah, I'm beginning to think so too," he nodded in agreement, letting Sam take a bite from the strawberry, then wrapping his other arm around him. He supposed there were worse ways to spend a Monday evening. "So, what would you usually be doing on Valentines?" he asked after a moment, "Or is this just the norm for a guy like you?" he teased.
Sam chuckled at Sebastian's teasing. "Well, I was single last year so didn't really do anything special. And before that handing out own made cupcakes and little cards to my friends." He tipped his head, looking at Sebastian. "This is my first Valentines with someone I really wanted to spend time with today.. that, plus I'm a hopeless romantic. So I guess that made me go a little overboard." He gestured around him as he said that. There was a ton of snacks that, if he had to be honest, could last them at least two days. He reached out to lace their fingers together again. "I like it though, this is really nice." he mentioned with a contented sigh.
Sebastian listened to Sam, tilting his head a little so that he could get a better look at him, smiling fondly as he recalled his past Valentine's celebrations. "Well that's cute, a little Sammy running around handing out gifts to his friends," he teased, though there was nothing malicious behind his words, if anything he thought it was adorable, and right now he had no shame in telling him that. He glanced around them at the piles of snacks that Sam had packed for them, and he was definitely amused, since he thought they'd only be here for a few hours at most, but Sam seemed to have brought enough to last them at least a few days. "Well, if we're exchanging secrets..." he started, chewing on his bottom lip for a moment before continuing, "Then this is my first Valentines, ever," He'd never really seen the point in them before, but Sam was going out of his way to prove him otherwise. "Yeah it is, really nice,"
Sam stuck out his tongue at him. "I so was not cute but totally adorable while doing that." He started to play with Sebastian's fingers as he listened to the other boy. He shifted to sit sideways so he could look at him without to much trouble, resting his side against Sebastian's chest. "I feel honored." A soft smile graced his lips.
Sebastian rolled his eyes, cute wasn't a word that he threw around very often, but it definitely suited Sam and he didn't think he could ever be persuaded otherwise. He glanced down at their fingers, smiling softly as Sam started playing with them, "Babe, you've been cute since the moment I laid eyes on you," he told him, shifting slightly as Sam did so that they were a little more comfortable with each other, though his arm never left Sam's waist, as he found he was quite comfortable like this, supporting Sam's weight against his own. "So you should," he told him after a minute, reaching into his back pocket and pulling out his phone, turning on one of his playlists, something to fill the silence really. "Since you brought the food, only right that I bring the music, right?" he grinned, adjusting the volume so that it wasn't too loud. "Have you told your parents about me?"
Sam blushed, cursing his light complexion. He glanced up into Sebastian's eyes, tilting his head up for a kiss. "I don't mind being cute in your eyes." He snuggled in close when Sebastian set up the music. "Yeah sounds like a good deal." He fell silent for a little while just enjoying the closeness between Sebastian and him, having not a care in the world right now other then being in Sebastian's arms. They hadn't done this a lot, sex- yes but just talking and sitting all cuddled up not. He could really get used to this. He looked up at Sebastian again when he asked about telling his parents. "Not in so many words but knowing my parents they get you're more then just a friend cause I talk about you a lot."
Sebastian dipped his fingers beneath the material of Sam's shirt, his fingers idly tracing out patterns into his skin as he held onto him, absently humming along with the song that was playing, he couldn't really tell you what it was, he wasn't giving it enough attention, it was just there playing in the background. This was completely out of Sebastian's comfort zone, he hadn't done this with anyone before, a part of him not really sure what was expected of him, but Sam seemed content enough for now, so that was more than good enough for him. "Hm, do you?" he smirked, unable to not be the slightest bit cocky at Sam's admission, "And what do you tell them?"
Sam nuzzled Sebastian's chest as he gotten comfortable. "Apparently.. not like I do it on purpose. It just happens." When he was planning this date, cause he was allowed to call that now after they talked about it earlier, he hadn't envisioned anything like this. He might have hoped it would be like this but to actually be here sitting wrapped up in Sebastian's arms, soft music in the background and bright stars up in the sky was like a dream. "I told them we went to see a movie," he chuckled a little. "Didn't go into any details. Don't think they wanna know that, nope."
Sebastian wasn't really sure how he felt about Sam talking about him to his parents, not that it was a bad thing, but parents didn't seem to like him very much, but Sam seemed quite happy about it. So maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing after all this time around. "Yeah, that probably wouldn't be the best idea in the world, they might think I'm trying to corrupt their little boy," Sebastian grinned, nipping affectionately at Sam's neck, giving him a little squeeze. He could probably get into this whole romance thing if this was all it involved, just him and Sam, somewhere secluded, it was pretty perfect. "Well, I haven't really told my parents about you, or well, whatever this is," Sebastian admitted, wondering whether that was a bad thing or if Sam would take it for what it was, "But, Rosalie likes you, apparently it's about time I found myself a sweet boy, and you already know how Jasper feels about you," he murmured, peppering soft little kisses against Sam's neck, before reaching around him and picking up another strawberry, placing one end in his mouth and closing the gap expectantly between him and Sam as he waited for the other to take the other end into his mouth.
Sam: me hummed a little, listening to Sebastian and pressing a soft kiss under his jawline. "That's fine.. it is what it is, no worries." He said softly. He hadn't want to put a label on their relationship himself as well since he was still trying to figure out what this was. He chuckled as Sebastian repeated what Rosalie had told him. "I knew I liked her for a reason. Yeah I know, he's as crazy about me as I am about him. He's adorable." Sam glanced up, a smile finding it's way on his lips. Tilting his head he closed his lips around the strawberry, carefully sinking his teeth into the end he had in his mouth, eyes never leaving Sebastian's green ones.
Sebastian felt a soft shiver run through his body as Sam pressed a kiss along his jawline, his lips lifting into a small smile at the intimacy between them, it was definitely turning into a perfect evening, that was for sure. "Well, he's not the only one who's adorable, you know," he grinned, pressing a kiss to the corner of Sam's mouth. He knew that this was much sappier than what he was used to, and that if Hunter could see him now he'd be ripping it out of him, but luckily for him they were very much alone, and he was free to do as he pleased with Sam, which right now included just holding Sam close to him, and he was perfectly okay with that. He raised a hand, cupping Sam's face in his hand as the strawberry soon disappeared between them and he lost himself in the kiss that he shared with Sam. "Okay, I give in, maybe Valentines isn't as lame as I thought it was,"
Sam sighed a little, being dramatic and swatted his arm. "Yeah yeah, I get it, I'm adorable." He smiled though when Sebastian kissed him again. "Yay! Score one for Valentines." Sam murmured against Sebastian's lips not wanting to break their kiss just yet. "Mind if we up the sappy and lay down for a while, all cuddles up and looking at the stars? He asked, batting his eyelashes playfully. "Think you can handle that?"
Sebastian hummed against Sam's lips, barely registering what was being said, but he supposed it was something along the lines of 'I told you so' still, he'd allow Sam this one moment, especially since Sebastian had been so smug since they'd first met and he'd put up with it all. He deepened the kiss between them, refusing to give up on their kiss just yet, not since it felt so good between them, sure it wasn't as heated and passionate as usual, but it was different in a good way. "I suppose I could handle it, you know if that's another part of this Valentines plan of seduction of yours," he grinned, shifting his body slightly, carefully moving some of the small containers out of the way and lying with his back flat against the blanket, wrapping an arm around Sam protectively so that he was lay, head resting gently on his chest. "I ever realised you were into stargazing," he mused, his fingers running lazily through Sam's hair, "Tell me something else that I don't already know,"
Sam kissed him back in kind, pouring his feelings into the kiss. "Oh it totally is so yeah, you kinda have to do it." Sam replied as he followed Sebastian down onto the blanket after the other one made some room for them to lay down. Snuggling into Sebastian's side he draped his arm over his stomach, moving his fingers under the fabric of Sebastian's shirt as he hook his leg over one of Sebastian's legs. "I like it. Something about looking up there makes me forget things for a little while." Sam leaned into the fingers that were running through his hair as he thought about what to tell Sebastian. He always saw himself as an open book and his mom said he talked from the heart and not his mind so he didn't really see what he could tell Sebastian, if there was something he hadn't told him yet. "I'm still terrified this whole coming out thing is going to blow up in my face. Like no one said anything today about my jacket or ask if it was true. It's confusing..scary even.. you'd think they have all these things to say." He ran his thumb in small circles up and down Sebastian's side. "And I'm not used to talk about myself or my thoughts. - What about you? Something I don't know yet?"
Sebastian shifted a little more, happily embracing the warmth from Sam's body as the other made himself a little comfortable, "Well, what things are you trying to forget about?" he asked, propping his head up slightly so that he could look down at Sam, not that the angle was all that forgiving, since he could only really see the top of Sam's head. He scratched lightly at Sam's head, waiting for him to give him some sort of answer, mentally noting that it was probably the first real conversation that they'd had together, one that didn't turn into sex. Well, the night was still young, but for some reason, sex didn't seem like the be all and end all tonight. "Babe..." he said softly, sucking in a breath, "You don't have to worry about anything like that, I promise," he assured him, "But, maybe people have actually got a clue and figured that we're not the ones with the problem?" he suggested, glancing briefly up at the sky, then shifting slightly so that he was lay on his side and looking at the boy in his arms. His eyebrows shot up at Sam's question, though he supposed he should've expected it really, still he didn't answer straight away, chewing a little on his lip, wondering what he should say, since there was still so much that Sam didn't know about him, "I don't know, Babe," he mused, "I guess...I don't know, I guess I've always been scared that I'm not good enough," he confided, his heart pounding a little in his chest, since he'd never admitted that aloud to anyone but Hunter, since he worked so hard to keep his barriers up around everyone else in the world.
Sam rolled his shoulders. "How I'm here and can't help out my folks and stuff like that. How much I miss the munchkins. Rach and her dads are awesome and it feels like home there and yet still I get homesick." He blinked his eyes, listening to Sebastian and wanting to believe his words but he found it hard to do as he saw how some people would look at the one open gay couple in school. "I guess." He shifted when Sebastian moved as well, keeping his arm around the other's waist as he gave him a small affectionate smile and giving him all the time he needed to find something he was willing to talk about. "Oh Seb,"he whispered softly, feeling sad someone like Sebastian would even think about himself like that. He leaned up, pressing a soft kiss to the tip of his nose. "You're way more then good enough. You're amazing!" He ran his thumb over Sebastian's cheek, looking him in the eye. "What makes you think you're not?" He asked softly. He wanted to understand where this was coming from so he could start and try fixing this. He didn't like it when people thought bad about himself and that was double when it came to Sebastian.
Sebastian listened to Sam, he couldn't even pretend that he understood how Sam felt, because he'd never really had that close family unit, going to boarding school had been the best thing for him, he'd never missed home, and he'd never once missed his parents. "Yeah, but I bet your parents are just happy that you're happy, right?" he shrugged, not that he'd met them, or claimed to know them, but with everything Sam had told him, he thought it was a pretty good assumption, "And I mean, you can always go and visit them, yeah?" He pursed his lips together slightly when Sam didn't seem to believe him when he'd said that things were changing, and maybe they hadn't, but he supposed if Sam was going to get any grief then it would've probably happened by now. His eyes slid shut as Sam propped himself up, pressing a soft kiss to the tip of his nose, letting out a soft chuckle of his own, "Hate to break it to you Babe, but you're supposed to think that, we're sleeping together," he told him with a playful grin, "I don't know, it's stupid really, you know about all the crap with my dad, it's like, I try not to let him get to me, and when I was a kid I worked so hard to make him proud of me, nothing ever worked. I suppose that's why I started sleeping around so much, easy way to get some attention, I know it's stupid..." he sighed, trailing off, fingers curling into Sam's shirt, "Now I'm home, and I see him nearly every day, it's like a constant reminder,"
Sam couldn't help but nod in agreement when Sebastian mentioned that his parents would be happy that he was happy. "Yeah they are.. It's just weird not having them there when I want to talk to them. Skype and phone calls are just not the same as face to face." He once again nodded. "Well yeah I can and I did when we had Thanksgiving weekend- It kinda made me miss them more when I got back here. But it's okay. I get this is the best thing for me and I got a good motive to really like this place right now" Sam shrugged. "Ah but me thinking you're awesome kinda got you into my pants in the first place so there's that." He moved, pressing a kiss to his cheek, trying not to show how bad he felt for the other boy when Sebastian told him all that. He couldn't imagine how his life had been growing up with a father like that as he came from a family that was tide knitted and his dad was supportive towards all his kids. "Seb it's not stupid. It's far from stupid. I think every kid looks to their dad for guidance and approval, especially boys as we always get told to be strong and lead and all that. It's terrible you got a dad who doesn't see how much his not giving you attention is causing you to do the sleeping around thing looking for attention from others since he doesn't give it to you." He nuzzled his neck, letting the silence fall over them for a second as he took Sebastian's hand in his again. "You'll always be good enough for me, Seb. I wish I met you sooner so you could have come hang out at my place when things got to much and my mom would have spoiled you rotten with iced tea and homemade cookies. - next time he gets to you, call me. Come over or something." He leaned up, brushing his lips over Sebastian's. You'll always be good enough for me."
Sebastian smirked a little, an instinctual reaction as Sam said that, because he knew that he might've had a reason why Sam found it easier sticking around now, and he was perfectly okay with that. "Yes, but after the first time we slept together, I like to think that it was that changed your opinion of me," he added with a little wink, because if there was one thing he was good at, then it was sex, and sex with Sam was currently his favourite thing in the world, so of course he was going to excel at it. Still, as the conversation turned to focus on him, he couldn't help feeling incredibly vulnerable, and he hated that. He was so used to putting up wall, to putting on a brave face in front of everyone, this was the first time ever he'd allowed someone else to see this side of him. "It wasn't so bad when I was at boarding school, my friends were pretty great, and I was just allowed to be me, you know?" He sighed, continuing to run his fingers through Sam's hair, "I think being home it just harder than I thought it would be," his eyes slid shut as Sam shifted, their lips brushing together in a soft, lingering kiss. "I don't know what I ever did to deserve you, Babe,"
Sam chuckled and poked Sebastian's side. "Well the sex is pretty awesome as well. It makes you even more awesome, that's for sure." Sam wasn't going to deny the fact he really liked sleeping with Sebastian and the sex was the best he had ever had. Not that denying it would help because the way he always ended up moaning Sebastian's name, load enough for anybody to hear, begging for more kinda made that impossible to do. "Hmm mm, I think I do. There you didn't feel like he was watching and disapproving every move you made. And having your friends there, well I always think that boarding school is a little like having an own handpicked family, right? So you were surrounded with people you liked and who understood who you were." Sam pressed back into the fingers running through his hair, he loved how it felt. "Just go hang out with Hunter or come visit me, get yourself out of the house a little more. Might help." He smiled against his lips. "You being you plus you being crazy enough to meet up at the Lima Bean with me and take a change. Trying to get into my pants and all, but still, it's what got us here."
Sebastian was a little surprised that Sam understood exactly where he was coming from, most people thought he was a spoilt little rich kid, which yeah, maybe he kind of was, but people rarely saw him for more than that, but it seemed Sam was different, and maybe it could potentially be more than just sex between them, one day at least. His eyebrows shot up as Sam mentioned Hunter, a feeling of guilt rushing through him as he remembered the last time that he'd hung out with him, then he wondered how Sam would feel if he ever found out. Usually he wouldn't care what people thought, he and Hunter had been something of a package deal for years now, sleeping together for most of them too, but now he'd started to genuinely care for Sam, and deep down he knew it Wasn't right to be sleeping with his best friend at the same time. "Yeah, maybe Babe," he sighed, turning his head and affectionately nuzzling it into the side of Sam's head, "But thanks," he pressed a soft kiss to the corner of Sam's mouth, chuckling a little as Sam recalled their first meeting. "Being crazy had nothing to do with it, I wanted to see if you were as hot in the flesh," he told him with a flirty little wink, reaching around him and tugging the blanket around Sam to keep him warm as the temperatures started dropping, "So tell me more about these stars then" he asked, glancing up at a sky, looking for a change of subject as he squeezed Sam a little closer to him, purely for warmth of course.
Sam pressed another kiss under Sebastian's jaw, snuggling in close when Sebastian tugged him in with the blanket., chuckling lightly. "And am I?" was all he asked before turning his eyes up to the sky and started to point out some stars, seeing the subject change and going with it. "You see that one up there? That's not even a star.. it's the space station.."This was the first time they had talked as much and about topics they normally didn't talk about when they actually did talk. Sam felt honored that Sebastian had showed him this side of him. Had a feeling he was one of the few who ever got to see this side. And now they were cuddled up underneath a blanket in the middle of nowhere, watching the stars and just being together. He called it a very successful Valentines.
No, it wasn’t fun to walk around with your nose being set, and a huge, deep purple bruise under your eye. It wasn’t fun to explain to your daughter that you basically got into a bar fight, but used scenarios about ‘saving the princess’ to get it to cross her mind. That wasn’t fun, either. It wasn’t okay to think that anything about that night was okay, because it was up with the top ten mistakes he had ever made. He hadn’t talked to Spencer since that night, and he had hardly gotten across any type of communication due to the alcohol consumption.
Unfortunately, it hadn’t been the place that he wanted to talk to her, but he knew that this would be the one place he’d see her. She was there on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and Caleb knew that today was not the day he wanted to be picking Amelia up from school. Not at all was he ready to feel the embarrassment of this situation, but he knew that it would happen. He knew that there would be a time when they’d need to talk about it, and Amelia might be a distraction to the actual anger that could occur. With the brace on his nose and the bruising that made him look like Rocky, Caleb was ready. Kind of. He hadn’t talked to most of the people from that night for a while, a few friends that were there did call him to make sure he was alright, but he shrugged off the subject. Nothing would be okay until he talked to Spencer.
As he parked his car and grabbed his keys, he jumped out and started to walk towards the building. When finding the room that he knew all too well, he started to walk up slowly, knowing that there might still be parents in there-- and there were. A few were still picking up their kids and talking to their teacher, and Caleb’s eyes noticed that Spencer was sitting with Amelia and a few others in the corner, coloring in books and having the most beautiful smile on her face that he had seen in a really long time. A really, really long time. With being so set on staring at Spencer, he hadn’t noticed that someone else had noticed him before the blonde did.
“Daddy!”
Caleb’s eyes moved from the blonde before noticing the little girl running towards him, his arms opening for her before giving her a huge grin, eyes crinkling in the corner. “Hey sweetheart,” He kissed her cheek before picking her up and holding her on his hip, his eyes averting to Spencer again. This was going to be harder than he imagined.
