Got hit by a wave of love for Pankapu again and I decided to let it devastate me,,, and I ended up putting effort into shading for once!! Wow!!!
Felt like giving the doodle I posted at the end of that longpost its own post so here’s Pankapu
I want to eventually draw a canon-defying cuddlepile because the ending of this game made me so MAD but it was very enjoyable otherwise. Also like all of the good guys are precious beans and I love them
Pankapu reminds me a lot of Hollow Knight, so I drew them being friends!
I didn't want the little knight to actually be bug-sized but I figured they had to be small... and who knows how tall Pankapu is, anyway

INKTOBER 7 - Too Bad
So, I kinda closed my drawing file I was working on, by mistake, before I had the chance to save it. So instead, here’s a tiny Kirby representing how exactly I feel about tonight’s situation haha
“It’s Story Time”: Gangreyn the Dreameater
« It’s not the war that scares me the most, it’s to dream about it… »
If it’s commonly accepted that into Oa’ma, the transcendent dream world, lives dreams and hopes; On the other hand, you most likely never heard of his consort Hya’ma: The dark and sordid land of chaos, plagued by nightmares. The people of Oa usually occult this part of their reality, bloodcurdling by remembering that where the light shines, the darkness always roams.
We found a very few stories relating the state of those dry lands. Just a rare apocryphal’s volumes paint a portrait of the hierarchy that maintains this order, without even mentioning the scaring people that lives in: the Hya’nagis. Who are they? From which evil roots are they coming from? And moreover, who’s ruling them? The Hya’nagis aren’t depict has an aggressive and messy masses, rather than, they are closer to an obedient army, ruled by a prince whose name is only mentioned in the ancient tale of the Dream Keeper, Pankapu. This name, timidly written by a trembling ink, echoes in every mind, such as a synonym of decay and corruption: “Gangreyn: the Dreameater, prince of the Nightmares”
As every storyteller says, there is no drama that can get over its antagonist and there is no dream without it’s terrifying twin. Born from the darkest corners of Time, Gangreyn is the grandiloquent aesthete who’s the cutting eloquence put the stress on the unfairness of the quest of our little knight. Spectacular dark flamboyance, sworn nemesis of Iketomi, the Prince of nightmares constantly interposes in the fable of Pankapu, burying him under his thin and crushing shadow, making a malicious pleasure to remind our small spectator that there are no lights without shadows, virtues without vices, victories without defeats.
He is the mad producer that set the scene of a wild play. Going for anything to satisfy the Mother of Destiny, to whom he calls himself “son” and from whom every step of this quest becomes a tyrannical trial. Gangreyn will not rest, corrupting every part of Omnia to place his raven props. No protagonists escape from this gloomy act, and even if he claims his invasion with a theatrical ease, his own motivation stays hidden in the backstage of his performance, waiting for the curtain to go up.
As we know for now, a few tales mention “The Dark Master”, in this way, it’s nearly impossible to paint with exactitude the portrait of this lord of nightmares. There is still an ancient scroll, supposedly the original tale of Pankapu, which describe the aesthetic form of this singular character throw freezing icons. We can read in it, the story of an ebony slender shape, long clawed arms with a mane of fire, ruling the dark army and tearing apart the Veil, to invade the land of Dreams.
Sometimes humanoid, perverse and laughing, sometimes chiroptera, sadistic and vicious, all the painting discovered until then, confirm the raptorial nature of this entity. Covered himself with a large and ludicrous smile, the picture depicts in this book remind to every naturalist, that far from being just a perverse shade, Gangreyn remains a beast, eating his fill only with Omnia substance. It’s from this constant that his gloomy name come from: “The Dreameater” however we can find this evocation in most recent books with the understated name of “The Reaver”.Still, a lot of questions remain about the appearance of the prince.
The flames, crowning his body, are display at the bottom of his human form. However, the debate is escalating when they must determinate if this dark being was literally born from flames or, on the opposite, if this burning symbolize the close link that Gangreyn maintains with the mythological hatred, usually portrayed as a mystical fire that eats away and rots…However, no answer can be clarified until the confrontation of the theoretical data against the real observation of this creature, supposing that crossing his flames is not as irresponsible as fatal.

« Ce n’est pas de la guerre dont j’ai peur, c’est d’en rêver… »
Truth, it's dangerous to try to take your anger out on gods willy nilly. God killing is a serious business and I would be remiss to know that you went out to attempt it unprepared. I hope you've at least readied some epic level spells to combat them?
That I have! Primarily a laser beam and several variations on an epic explosion. And it’s not “willy nilly” it’s william nilliam completely justified because this god is a jerk.
He’s like… y’know Ego from Guardians of the Galaxy 2? He’s like that. Has tons of kids, all but one of them are dead, acts like he cares about his son but actually couldn’t care less and tries to kill him in the finale… heck, he even looks like a superhero character.
It’s probably a coincidence, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some inspiration there.
In any case, he had no right to hurt Pankapu like that. That’s where my righteous fury is coming from.
Also I’m mad that he showed up on my blog before my precious Dreamkeeper son, so here’s who Didn’t Deserve Any Of That Crap:
(Please play this game, it’s amazing)
