Wasps themselves are a very diverse people. Some don't even look like the stereotypical wasp. This diversity has also allowed other bugs to be labeled as wasps, when the only thing they have in common is color.

What's this? A panda ant from Chile. Never mind that panda ants are actually wasps that have a nasty sting. They're still cute.

EVERYBODY SHUT UP. I found out abt panda ants.
GUYS. So i was searching up some cool bugs to learn about and i found THIS
So like their scientific name is euspinolia militaris and their actually wasps, not ants. They dont have wings so theyre mistaken to be ants a lot of the time. And their stings hurt LIKE HELL. They live at the coastal areas of Chile, they were discovered in 1938, and they eat flower nectar and little itty bitty insects. They like to live at sandy areas, where they can lay their eggs. Theyre also called the "cow killers", even tho they dont actually kill cows (as far as i know)
Animal of the Day!
Panda Ant (Euspinolia militaris)

Conservation Status- Unlisted
Habitat- South America
Size (Weight/Length)-Â 8 mm
Diet- Nectar; Pollen
Cool Facts- I just don’t get it. Scientists are still getting away with misnaming animals. The panda ant, actually a species of wingless wasp, are covered in a fine hair. This hair is black and white, a form of protection from other predators who believe they are much more dangerous than they really are. Another form of predator defense is the panda ant’s ability to create an ultrasonic sound that wards off enemies. Both male and female panda ants have a stinger and it is reportedly horrible but humans are rarely stung. The myth that panda ants can kill a cow are false!
Rating- 11/10 (C’mon taxonomists, do your job.)
Panda velvet ant, Euspinolia militaris, Mutillidae. Found in Chile.
Velvet ants are not actually ants, but rather wasps. Females are wingless and can inflict an extremely painful sting, while males have wings but are unable to sting.
