#pale tree

My sylvari commander's origin story. ;p

With the year of the dragon coming to an end, I find it appropriate to share some sketches exploring the facial designs of Uda’s dragon form

it's time for Nameless Higanbana and Caithe to infiltrate the Nightmare Court! As I said previously, I mainly chose the infiltration route because I like costumes, and I couldn't remember what sort of getup Nameless would be put in, and....

Girl. GIRL. Yaaas slay boots the house down, I live, laugh, love this for me! It's giving springtime Sakura, it's giving chrysanthemums in heels, it's giving.... well, it's giving Nameless Higanbana! The colour, the style, the extravaganza of it all! Kinda sucks that this is the medium weight armour and not the heavy armour - although, to be honest I would have liked to put her in the light armour, I think she would have looked really cool with a dress of petals and a pink naginata. Oh well.

I assumed that we would see Liam O'Brien amongst the courtiers, but no, he's buggered off somewhere. Once again, a fairly straightforward quest, just nip in, grab the stag, and battle my way out. Sadly, I don't get to keep the outfit on my way out and have to content myself with the same dull brown chainmail. Ugh.

The next bit, I absolutely don't remember, but do find very funny - the finale of this quest (for those who don't know) sees the nightmare court invade your home to get the stag back. Your home which is at the bottom of the Grove. As far away as it is possible to get from the entrance. The idea that the Nightmare Court would be able to make it that far through ALL the Grove sylvari is a bit of a stretch, but oh well.

Liam O'Brien finally shows up and challenges me to a duel, which I win, naturally. I tried to get a good shot of the fight, but instead I'll have to settle for this shot of Nameless kneeling with respect before her fallen foe. (not too much respect tho - Liam, you may have a sexy, sexy voice but you're still the bad guy.)

After a brief meeting with the avatar of the pale tree, it's off to meet the firstborn sylvari Trahearne! now him, I do remember, though I don't recall very much about this quest. It wasn't until I spotted a certain blue cabbage by the name of Malyk that I started to remember bits of it; that he's a Sylvari from a different tree, and that the sylvari had previously thought the only tree in Tyria was the pale tree.

Anyway, I did do the first little quest, rescuing the kidnapped wardens (oh look, more costume time) - Oh my god, this one guy we were rescuing got bugged and stuck firing arrows at nothing. Once the wardens were free I had to spend the next few minutes just hearing a constant "pew, pew, pew, pew, pew...". Anyway, Malyk is the harbinger, we're all doomed etc.

I suspect I'll get through this quest next time, after which (if my memory serves me correctly) I get to pick which order I'm going with. I've already decided on the Order of Whispers, I feel like Nameless Higanbana is definitely more of a "manipulation from the shadows" kind of girl, plus their armour suits her better.

I do like that finishing the Caladbolg regrown quest shows the pale tree recovering enough to stay awake and even stand a short while.
