People are more likely to change for a dog, than they are for another person. Why? Dogs give UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. It is harder for humans to give unconditional love, but it’s definitely possible. Something I always work towards, is to accept other people’s flaws, even when it causes me stress or pain. Because everyone is battle their own issues and pain. Cesar Millan once said to the students at his fundamental course “people in pain, hurt others”. I wrote down because I don’t want to forget that. This is my lovely client, Amanda’s pack. She works with rescues to foster and help out dogs in need. She definitely foster failed 5 times. 😂 She is such a wonderful, kind, and giving person. And her pack is a bunch of loving, sweet pups. One of our longest running pack members, Jessie, sadly had to have emergency surgery due to bloat/GDV. She’s been a client since the very beginning of Kapooch’s inception, back in 2014. Her loving human, Diane, initially contacted us for her dog aggression issues. Since working with us Jessie has become the social butterfly of Astoria and has lots of doggie friends now. Up until her recent emergency surgery, she was still going on regular pack walks with us. And as many of our Kapooch clients, Diane and Jessie have become good friends with our team and pack. We always feel that every client is like family here at Kapooch. So when something like this happens it’s devastating to all of us. Last Monday evening Diane noticed Jessie was acting unusual after eating and drinking. She was trying to vomit without success and her stomach look abnormally large. Thankfully, Diane knew to take her to the emergency hospital right away. Her stomach had twisted and luckily untwisted on its own. But her spleen couldn’t be saved. She had to have emergency surgery to have her spleen removed. She developed a heart arrhythmia due to the surgery, and had to stay in the hospital to recover. The bill came to a whopping $9400.
