Hi. I hope this message isn’t strange—I’ve been following your blog for a while, and it’s meant more to me than I expected. The way you share your daily life—just small pieces of it—has made me feel less alone. I wanted to ask: how did you get to where you are now? I don’t mean in a career sense, necessarily, but emotionally. Mentally. Does it ever get better? Is this stage I’m in—the heavy, hard-to-breathe part—just a stage? You feel very real to me, and I think I just needed to hear from someone a little further down the path.
Thank you, either way.
:)

Minami-san, hi 👋 こんにちは。☁️
First of all, thank you so much for following my blog. Your message truly warmed my heart. This blog is simply my way of appreciating the small, everyday moments of my life here in Japan. The mundane things. Life can be overwhelming at times, and I often forget to pause and be grateful. If this blog has inspired someone or made them feel a little less alone, then it has already served a purpose far greater than I ever intended.
For your question, it honestly isn’t the easiest one to answer and I’ve pondered upon it since I read your message last night. It wasn’t easy for me to be where I am now, and it still isn’t. I’m still struggling and I believe I get to share it a bit in my posts. The stage you are in is where I am right now, too, so I hope this comforts you a little to know that you’re not alone. Totally not alone in this crazy little thing called life. There are more out there, that’s for sure. It’s not a happy thought that there are many of us struggling deep within, though, but there’s a little comfort in it and it’s reminder that yes, this is just a stage and that we’ll get to the destination where we want ourselves to be - a stage of growth, contentment, freedom, and happiness that isn’t too much to ask. The trick is to actively shape ourselves to get there and not just simply manifest. I’ve been feeling so stuck since I graduated college, especially in my career, and it has helped me a lot to reach out to people who I know will never judge me for feeling this way. So, thank you for reaching out. That takes a lot of courage and I admire you for that.
Some of the ways that have helped me get out of the slump are 1. being chronically offline and 2. trying something new from time to time.
1. With this, I mean lessening my SNS time. Tumblr is a social media, but it doesn’t give me the same negativity that the other major ones do. I have mostly used it, YouTube, and Pinterest since I started my chronically offline life and it has helped me shift my mindset. The content we consume on the internet really affects us more than we think, and I realized a big part of the negativity I feel is due to what I see on SNS every day. The constant comparisons and overstimulation brought by everyone’s curated feeds are totally unnecessary and I haven’t dealt with them since I started spending my time offline for most of my days. I still use sns; I haven’t deleted any personal accounts for communication purposes, especially since I live in a foreign country, and my family is back home in the Philippines. However, I surely have a better relationship with it now than I used to.
2. Not everyone has the time, money, and energy to do this. Each one leads a different life. However, I can fully attest that doing something new improves our mental and emotional health, and it doesn’t even have to be expensive most of the time. We can also go back to an old hobby or do things that make our heart and mind happy. Things that make us forget our worries are definitely not a waste of time. It’s a personal investment towards peace of mind.
Minami-san, I totally understand what you’re feeling right now. I’m in the same boat. Know that you’re not alone and this, too, shall pass. Just keep going and things will fall into place. That, I can guarantee.
P.S. I checked your blog and I absolutely love your way with words. You’re a great writer! I admire people who can write and express their thoughts so much, so keep doing it if it makes you feel better. Pour it all out and I will be here to read them.
It’s such a bummer this blog is a side blog and I can’t follow back, so let me follow you through my main blog (scarlettlaurie) instead. That one’s a whole load of randomness so no need to follow it back.
Have a lovely day and feel free to reach out to me when you want.

Do you remember the golden age of Marauders/Jily fanfics? Well, The Last Enemy is basically that. It's LONG and is currently being written. The writer's on book 2 out of 3. There's alternating POVs in every chapter. The writing is excellent and the Jily angst is *chef's kiss*. I think you'd love it!
Okay okay OKAY!!! Thanks for the recommandation!!! It's super long but im gonna try it!
Speaking of Jily, have you read CH Darling's The Last Enemy series?
No and ive never heard of it! What's it about???
