I know life’s hard. I’m not stupid or naive there are horrible things happening all the time. But you know what my coping mechanism is? always trying to be positive about everything and seeing the good in everyone and having a whole load of hope because you know what without that I probably wouldn’t still be alive. Just my two cents
i think one of life's greatest illusions is that you are free. Probably 99 percent of people reading this are free in the manner that they aren't slaves or prisoners stuck in some concentration camp or anything like that but they are suburban people with a roof over their heads and have an education and access to a million different things on command.
We are free. Now you see what separates us from one another is how free we CHOOSE to be.
Some people like you and me go throughout their day wandering throughout their lives, going to work or school, coming home and staying in or going out or whatever until they fall asleep and do it all over again the next day. They technically have nothing to complain about yet they go through their lives crippled by they choices they have to make; Limited by their decisions that is entirely affected by internal thoughts. Its simply because,
the gift of freedom is to understand what freedom means to you and how you can wield it to what you want.
Some people go through their lives completely paralyzed by the choices they make because they put themselves before everybody until they are left last. The thing about freedom is knowing when to do something for YOURSELF and then doing it. It can relate to so so so many things in the world big or small. like, - If you want to go away from a friends house, you can tell them you want to leave and then you can just leave. You shouldn't have to feel bad because they are your friend.
- If you want to buy a shirt that everybody thinks looks weird but you love, get the goddamn shirt. Don't let society decide and dictate your happiness for you by telling you what you can and can't like.
- If you want to end some shitty relationship because it doesn't make you happy, then just end it, you are under no moral obligation to stay just because the other person is happy and you're not. Its about you and if they like you enough then they will hurt but eventually understand.
In the end its about the choices you make that decide who you are in life. Be as spontaneously comfortable as you like in this world and learn to put yourself before others when deemed necessary. Selfishness is not a word that should define this as putting yourself before others is seldom out of greed but instead, need. People including myself, need to distinguish the difference between that sometimes in order to not feel guilty.for something you shouldn't be feeling guilty about. Your life is for you and you need to tell your selfless self that sometimes in order to be happy
