Challenge #04778-M029: And a Little Bit of Lavender
The human's friends fill an enormous, deep tub with hot water, saposin rich flowers, and several doses of lavender oil. The human DID say they loved lavender scented bubble baths. -- Anon Guest
Space does not encourage water immersion for reasons that quickly become obvious the more you know about freefall. So when spacers come to shore leave on a planet, the first thing they do is head for large and indulgent bodies of their chosen fluid. It's no surprise that port towns have a lot of swimming pools and bath houses.
And when they're very far from such places, yet still in a gravity well... some people dearly want to dunk themselves and soak. Which is not safe in an unfamiliar biome.
Companions Ans and Uum noticed that Human Nhi was getting 'tetchy' four weeks into the planetary survey. No matter how thorough the cleansing booths were, Nhi was bemoaning the absence of pools, hot tubs, and baths. Especially baths.

Sicktember Day 23: Overdoing It
Just a little farther, Don reminded himself doggedly, trying to steady his heavy, staggered breathing. Leo sounded slightly winded too; Don wasn’t the only one worn down by their long day just because of this ridiculously stubborn cold. Their makeshift shelter was looming ahead—farther ahead than his aching body would have preferred but simply laying eyes on it was a relief.
Just a little longer and then they could shove these fish and fruits at Mikey to worry about for dinner.
He shouldn’t be this worn down by fishing and foraging; he was used to long hours! Granted, he’d spent those long hours in the cool safety of the sewers, with a supply of food and water and medicine to cut this stupid, stupid cold off at the pass. With the sun beating down, the congestion sloshing in his head like Jell-O, the unfamiliar Cretaceous terrain making the snarl of tender tissue in his leg ache to the bone…home had never felt farther away.
Just…a little…
Leo would have caught him if his hands weren’t full with their woven baskets of food. As it was, he could only yelp, “Don!” as his brother swayed and sprawled across the upcoming incline with a thud.
Sweat and sunspots stung Donnie’s vision as he strained momentarily to lift his head, only to give up and press his face back into the baked earth with a clogged groan.
“M’okay,” he mumbled against all evidence to the contrary. “Just…tired. Little too much sun.”
“…Yeah. I feel you,” Leo murmured, moving to cast a shielding shadow between him and the glaring rays. “Don’t rush to get up, okay? We can stop here as long as you need.”
With the soil clinging to his nostrils, he could only muster a sneeze in response.

Challenge #04567-L183: The One Most in Need
They were in the temple of helping hands, having stayed up all night, yet again, cleaning, putting together the next day's bread, and other such chores. A kindly magic user used a very gentle spell to force them to go to sleep. Then, to protect their health, placed a geas upon them, so they did not work themselves into illness again. -- Anon Guest
Selflessness is a flaw, and few people see it as such. People who indulge in selflessness are seen as kind and giving, often heralded as living saints. Actual saints give the mortal world authorities trouble because of their connection with their deity. That, and the miracles.
The only miracle that the selfless can perform is the ability to keep sacrificing themselves. No matter what impediments might otherwise stop them.
Case in point, Dearie. A nigh-permanent fixture at the Arivale Temple of Kind Hands. Dearie may have a name, but the impermanent staff just call her 'Dearie'. As in, "Can you help me with this, Dearie?" or, "I need you to sit with this one, Dearie," and, "Is there any tea, Dearie?" But, more frequently, "You get some rest, now, Dearie." Mostly because the only way she stops working is by complete collapse and breakdown.

Did another 5 Mi at the gym urged on by the awesome MCR songs that always and still get me pumped even though the album came out forever ago. Luckily hubby was waiting for me at home because I still needed help in and even with his help nearly toppled over just from overdoing it.
Ugh, I never learn period but I'm feeling okay now.
I've been listening to a lot of the Casey Kasem weekly Top 40, which has archived shows on YouTube.
I found one the other day which played on my 9th birthday. And then earlier this morning I found one and I wasn't looking at the date at all. And then suddenly a song came on it that had been the song playing on the radio when my dad drove me home and told me my mom had died. I don't think I had heard that song in 30 years at least. It was such a shock.
I am on the daughters of Cain Community here and one of the girls was talking about having to take a step back sometimes because Ethel Kane's music is so overwhelming and so personal. I have never heard anyone talk about that before and it is something that I feel quite a bit.
I am only three chapters in tones Case's autobiography and I have had to take a back because we have so much in common it is really freaking me out. She lost her mom when she was seven her dad and my dad were a lot alike and the feelings yet when she lost her mom or the exact same kind of feelings I had.
Current Mood:
Mentally exhausted. Doing too much.
Just so freak’n tired. In need of rest.
