There is a new development in my (mostly) low density urban neighbourhood and I am currently trying to figure out how to organize while fundamentally disagreeing with both camps.

Obviously I hate and want to thwart the NIMBYs, but at the same time I don’t actually *like* the developers’ plans very much: they want to build too many 1 & 2 bedroom condos, when our city desperately needs more 3+ bedroom condos for families! I also want the city to make them build more affordable units. I just don’t know if reaching out to our councillors about these issues is going to help the NIMBY contingent too much.

#it's tough that i only moved in right before the pandemic #and i haven't made too many local connections #there have to be people working on these issues #right?#i just have to find them #they're probably on facebook #which i don't have #ugh!#this should be public housing #ovbiously #but i think that horse has left the stable #i just hate how often supporting development in your neighbourhood #seems to be tied to supporting private development #which is not actually what i support #but i also don't want to stop this #we need intensification #especially this close to the downtown
