i just know that pony would NOT leave darry alone when they're all out swimming
he'd keep being like "darry darry throw me!!!" and then darry tosses him out into the water and pony comes right back and begs darry to do it again
He would. Sometimes he’ll hit the water particularly hard and get a little bit winded but give him two minutes and he’s just …🧍♂️ Darry. Again.
Darry usually gets tired first lmao
hi! whats your favorite scene in the book? least favorite? and why?
Oh god. I’m currently in the middle of a re-read as I was too busy taking notes the first time to actually take it all in lmao. So I’ll go off what I recall/have been reading through.
For favorite I’m stuck between
When they gang save Pony and are introduced. It’s a nice little moment of getting to know everyone but also their dynamics as they hang out a little bit. Also the line that’s like “You just don’t cry around Darry. Not unless you’re hurt as bad as Johnny was and compared to him I wasn’t hurt at all” goes crazyyyyy
But I think my ultimate favorite scene towards the end is when Pony’s head trauma and trauma trauma come to a climax and he was genuinely going to use that bottle on a soc. The “you’re not like us” hits hard. How pony losing this sort of innocence and goodness the others lost a long time ago hits them, how pony barely recognizes it. And it doesn’t just come out of nowhere or his head injury, some of it does but it’s been brewing for a LONG time. In the early chapters he has this resentment and anger that the other guys have and it’s growing, he’s still largely himself and different but it’s there. It’s only a matter of how he’s going to react to that trauma/anger/being grease… he even talks about how he’s a little scared because he doesn’t want to cut himself off like Dally, make it a joke like Two bit or just live with it like Steve etc etc. But then he’s so tired… hot whomped in the head and he’s internalizing Dally’s rant and it’s *chefs kiss*
As for least favorite, i can’t say I have one from what I remember lol
do you have any outsiders ships?
I’m a little scared honestly because I’ve seen people be real weird about it no matter what you like 😭
I will say shipping is not my top priority here so I don’t have many and dunno if I’d write them or not
Jally fascinates me and their relationship textually helps a lot. No matter what way you interpret it- absolute brain worms.
That being said Dally and Two bit could just be straight up fun to explore as an idea. Two of the older boys who tend to be loners, I dunno.
Not a ship but Pony’s crush on Cherry is adorable.
I suppose I might also just outright like canon relationships too like Sandy and Evie with Soda and Steve as we don’t know that much about the dynamic part from it worked (well until Sandy left anyway)
7 and 9 outsiders musical asks!
Hi hello!! Thank you so much!! I love yapping about them, obviously.
(And also thank you for creating AMAZING ask prompts!)
7. Do you have a favorite lighting/ sound effect from the show?
Honestly, I think it has to be the red light for Buck Merrill’s place! I remember being particularly struck by it at La Jolla and being so glad they kept it for the Broadway production. I think it just is so different from everything else in the show, and it’s so striking and memorable.
9. Favorite bit of choreography/ staging?
Oh this is SO hard!! I think my favorite bit of staging is probably when Ponyboy goes to punch someone during the rumble and realizes it’s Johnny, but then Johnny is taken away from him. This, to me, represents the moment where Ponyboy actually realizes that fighting is pointless, it’s “no good,” it “doesn’t change a thing.” Because beating up the Socs won’t bring Johnny back. Hurting them is the same as hurting his best friend.

For The Outsiders ask game! 9, 12, but I desperately need to know your thoughts on 19 because I want all of your musical theater knowledge 💕
Hello my dear friend! How you flatter me 🥹
I actually just answered 9 and 12 in my last few posts, ironically enough 😂 HOWEVER
19. Do you have any other musicals/ musical theater songs that always remind you of The Outsiders?
Oh boy howdy I sure do! It will probably be easier to limit this question to songs that remind me of certain characters, so here we go:
Ponyboy: We Raise Our Cups and If It’s True from HADESTOWN, Corner of the Sky from PIPPIN, Those You’ve Known from SPRING AWAKENING
Johnny: Not While I’m Around from SWEENEY TODD, Don’t Do Sadness from SPRING AWAKENING
Darry: No More from INTO THE WOODS
Sodapop: I’ve Been from NEXT TO NORMAL
Two-Bit: Drink With Me from LES MISERABLES, Nobody from BANDSTAND
Dally: One Song Glory from RENT
Ponyboy & Johnny: For Good from WICKED
Cherry, Marcia, & Bev: A Soft Place To Land from WAITRESS
The Gang: Boho Days from TICK, TICK…BOOM!
There are probably more but this is what I can think of at the moment!
@partofastoryforetold Thank you for the questions for the Outsiders asks!!
12. What's a song/ line/ scene that you have an emotional reaction to basically every single time?
Okay, so this one was REALLY hard because there are so, so, so many moments that really hit home for me. But I decided to go with a line that I never really hear anyone talk about, which is when Bob points at Ponyboy after Cherry breaks up with him and says: “You’re fucking dead, loser.”
Because to me, that’s the beginning of the end. That’s the moment where it’s clear that Bob’s going to make sure Ponyboy doesn’t get to get away with talking to his girl. To me, that line means it’s no coincidence that the Socs come across Pony and Johnny in the park. They were out looking for them that night. And it feels so ominous to me every time Bob says it, knowing what’s coming next.
14. What is something you are glad is different in the musical from the book or movie?
I’m sure a lot of people have said this, but I really like that the novel Pony’s reading is Great Expectations. I think it just thematically makes more sense, and it gives Ponyboy a literary character to relate to much like he’s the literary character I relate to!
Darry has migraines probably. like really bad ones
yes I agree
Ty for presenting this hc to me
(Me too let’s be fr)
extension on this: he defo like when he gets them it’s like the kind where you can barely form a sentence because all you can think about is how bad it hurts.
if somebody even *breathes* in his direction while he’s got one, it makes it worse
he can like sense when they’re coming so like when he wakes up in the morning he can go “my heads gonna hurt later”
he refuses to take medicine for it and WILL lie and say he’s taken something just to escape having to take it for reals
he gets them randomly sometimes but they usually come from him being stressed
his mom got them really bad too, so he assumes that’s why he gets them
