I never did get to explaining all the names and why it changes so often, did I? Well, may as well do that now.
Okay, so first things first,Ā āHoshirou Yatentsukiā is more a title for her as the Heaven Wolf, or Tenrou, in her main/original verse, as well as her Touhou verse, since itās derived directly from her main verse. The reason why she goes by her title is because her parents hadnāt really been able to teach her much before they died, and while they taught her basic Japanese, didnāt speak much since they were constantly on the run. As a result, she really didnāt hear her own name all too often, and doesnāt remember her original name. And obviously, since she goes by her title and not an actual name, it doesnāt carry over into verses where she wouldnāt have said title.
Now, in verses where A) her real name is verse-appropriate, and/or B) there are actual legal records or other means for her to learn her name, she goes by her real name, Ginya Toushu. Now, Iām not gonna get into the little details for outlier verses, like her FE:A verse, but it boils down to setting, and in the case of her P5 verse, pre-existing ideas for another OC that got scrapped and merged into an AU for Hoshirou. She still technically fits the naming convention by her legal last name in that verse being Mori, the same last name as a certain follower of Oda Nobunaga, but thatās grasping at straws.Ā
Regardless, the name given to her by her birth parents is Ginya, her name in her human disguise while living in the Human/Non-magic World is Ambrosine, and the title she uses as a replacement for a name is Hoshirou, in terms of main verse stuff. Confusing as hell, I know, but thatās why thereās so much name variance within her verses.
