OBVIOUSLY, FOALY CAN’T LET US MUDPEOPLE KNOW ABOUT HOW IT REALLY WORKS, OR THAT ROOT IS NEAR CONSTANTLY BLOWING HIS STACK, OR THAT TROUBLE KELP IS ACTUALLY SMART OR THAT GOBLINS DO THE WEIRD ‘I’MA SAVE THIS SKIN TO MAKE A GROSS CLOAK OUT OF’ THING, OTHERWISE WE’D KNOW ALL THEIR SECRETS.

Or that Artemis has about 0.000000000000000000000001% of anything resembling athletics skills, unless you count typing really fast. Which I don’t. That’s what he’s got Butler, and Juliet for. They do the applied physics. He just does the theoretical bits.

So, this is beautiful miss Moodle, when she must have been like one, maybe one and a half? I FORGOT THIS DOGGO HAD COLOR ON HER FACE PART.

Here it is.

Step the first: make a template. 7 inches wide, by 9 inches long works well, but you can go longer if you want to. (Mine came out really good with 7 inches, but I make my seems absolutely tiny because I am a crazy person, so. Do what works for you.)

Cut two (or four, if you are so inclined, but know that it’s gonna make it harder down the line) pieces from your fabric.

Make sure that you have a way to tell the front from the back. (since my fabric was printed, I could easily flip one side over, and just have the wrong side touch the right side.) You can use two different colors if you’d like, I just ended up flipping one side over so that a wrong side would show, as well as a right side.

Sew up three sides. Make sure that all your sides are nice and together, and use pins. (do not be like me, who has a pin cushion RIGHT NEXT TO ME, and yet still only used pins to make the pleats because I _had_ to.)

It should look like this when you’re done sewing the three sides together. Now comes the slightly tricky bit.

Flip that ish inside out, and you’ll get---

This. Now, you take the one open end (it really doesn’t matter which one it is, I tend to do the big end as the one I did last, just because I wanted to, honestly.) and you fold it inside itself about a quarter of an inch. (pin the heck out of it, or iron it down, whatever you’d like, I live dangerously and did neither of these and it still came out fine) and sew the final side closed.

Congratulations, you are half way done.

SHould look like this once you’ve done that.

Now then. It’s time to pleat. Take one side, and fold it under, to about the half way mark in the fabric. Pin on both sides. Now take the other side, and repeat. Pin on both sides. Sew along the sides, fairly close to the ends, so that it will be able to open up like an accordian.

This is what it will look like once it’s pinned. see how there’s a bit of a pocket in the middle now? That’s where your mouth and nose go.

To attach strings, or ear bands, you can do a few things. If you’re using hair ties, I suggust testing out how long it needs to be first, before you sew them on to the ends of your mask. If you want, you can also use fabric to make little ties that you tie behind your head. (I went for the hair ties, they work well, but my ears are big, and pretty high up, so it took some positioning and repositioning to get everything to sit right. Ties may have worked better for me.)
