DANIEL SHARMAN, CISGENDER MAN, HE/HIM) ⸻ Is that ALEX MORGAN? Before the outbreak, the 35-year-old worked as an FOSTER CARE WORKER. Those who have crossed paths with him describe him as TRUSTING, though pressure often reveals his APPREHENSIVE nature. He is often associated with DARK CLOTHES, THICK SCARVES, INSOMNIA AND NIGHT TERRORS, AND A SMALL BAG OF WHAT SEEMS TO BE MEANINGLESS ITEMS. (Adri, 39, she/her, EST, none) Diversity criteria: Alex has a severe case of PTSD due to events before and after the outbreak. Sorting: No preference!
Alex grew up in a broken home, his mom leaving when he was five and his dad quickly turning to alcohol to cope. The following years, his father's behavior became worse, taking his anger out on Alex whenever he saw fit. It didn't take long for his school to notice and to remove Alex from his home placing him in foster care. From then on, Alex was moved from house to house, families not wanting him for reasons that he never really knew..or understood.
As he grew older, Alex made a promise to himself that he would never allow a child to go through the mental and physical trauma that he did in his life. Working hard to get through school, he crashed on friends' couches, in his car, wherever he could to complete his goals. Which he did. He put himself through college, got a degree and opened his own foster care facility, giving well deserving children the perfect families. It may have taken him some time to find the perfect family, but none of those kids that he placed had ever been sent back to him.
Things were going well for Alex, families were becoming whole because of him, children were happy and sending him letters and small thank you gifts and photos, each item always bringing tears to his eyes. Time passed and every day continued to be a blessing, especially when Alex had met the love of his life, Caleb.
Then
The outbreak begins, Alex loses everything..everyone, makes a decision that he could never take back. Ruining the rest of his life.

✦ (SOPHIE THATCHER, CIS WOMAN, SHE/HER) ⸻ Is that TESSA LIDDLE? Before the outbreak, the 25-year-old worked as a STORE CLERK AND STUDENT. Those who have crossed paths with them describe them as RESOURCEFUL, though pressure often reveals their RASH nature. They are often associated with CHIPPED FINGERNAIL POLISH, HAIR WITH OVERGROWN ROOTS, THE HELPLESSNESS IN BEING ALONE, THE SMELL OF A BURNT OUT CANDLE, A SHAKING HAND HOLDING A PISTOL. | Sorted into Community 2, Saint Marlowe Medical Hospital
tw; mentions of / allusions to drug use and alcohol abuse
Tessa wasn't brought into the world with any sort of plan. The Liddle family was already falling to pieces, holding it together by threads that fractured when she was born. She never really knew her mother, who decided motherhood truly wasn't for her after her second child was brought into the world. The woman left shortly after the birth, moving on to pursue another life and forget about her old one. Tessa's father was even more absent even though he was supposed to be their caretaker, choosing to spend long hours at work and even more at the bar than actually at home with the girls. Instead, Tessa's sister was the one who raised her from childhood and beyond - she filled the shoes of a parent more than their actual parents even though she was little more than a child herself.
Her sister had been there for her through all of it - her shit school experiences, her dabbling with drugs and alcohol. Tessa doesn't like to think about it too much, but it's hard to believe her sister didn't have to give everything up and put her life on hold to help Tessa through her childhood and teenage years. Once she was entering community college and working on finding herself it made more sense for them not to be quite so close. Still, no matter the time of day or night Tessa had come to rely on her sister being available to her. When the first rumors of the illness started reaching the local area, her sister was suddenly nowhere to be found and unreachable by phone. It was unlike her to simply not answer Tessa’s phone calls. She waited a week, then a month, then she started making a plan. This wasn't normal and no one else seemed to give a fuck. 'She's an adult,' 'she can take care of herself,' 'there is no reason to suspect foul play.' The fuck there wasn't. What if she was hurt? What if she was sick? What if she was…
It didn't take much to pack up her meager belongings into her car and take off on the road, following the nearly nonexistent signs of where her sister had gone and why. It wasn’t long before she hit traffic that seemed as if it would never move again. She waited there longer than she probably should have, as if it was just some accident that needed to be cleared out before the flow could continue as normal. But deep down, as minutes ticked to hours, the pit in her stomach grew. This wasn’t…normal. All it took to have her grabbing whatever she could carry and flee was a group of seemingly crazed people walking between the cars, smashing windows and trying to pull people from their vehicles. Attacking them. She followed the flow of people running.
Somehow she’d ended up at Saint Marlowe Medical Center and hasn’t had the courage to leave again. Not really, anyway. At this point, she’s not even sure where she would go. Her sister was probably amongst the dead somewhere, and it wasn’t as if she had anyone else in her life worth finding. And, despite not wanting to admit it, she doesn’t want to be alone. There are people here. People that, over the last few months, have felt more like family than her own ever really did.

⟢ INTRODUCING › CORDELIA VAN DER ROHE.
( b. 1973 ) fifty-three. lesbian. community one survivor. ⸺ ❝ there are times when i do not choose healing. i'm stubborn. i choose self-destruction instead, hoping that i will learn what it's like to have wounds again. ❞
⟢ ONE , BASICS .
name. cordelia louise van der rohe. nicknames. none, don’t you dare. age. forty-three. birthdate. january 7th. hometown. baltimore, maryland. gender. cis woman. pronouns. she & her. sexual & romantic orientation. lesbian. affiliation. community one. territory. cedar grove. positive traits. assertive, competent, decisive. neutral traits. daring, outspoken, questioning. negative traits. curt, mean, obsessive.
born into a family of surgeons, it wasn’t truly a surprise when you became one. but before that, there was a childhood, one that looked perfectly happy and normal until you realized that being crushed by the weight of expectations wasn’t the norm for a child at all.
you never complained, though. how could you do it with a silver spoon tucked between your teeth ? how could you do it when your reality was way better than several others around you ? so you sucked it up and lived your childhood days in a household full of exigencies, inside a legacy that always demanded more — you were taught from an early age to have an opinion because your voice had to matter; that discipline was the core pillar of everything; and that the chance to make the right first impression was one you couldn’t afford to waste.
you grew up surrounded by demands that didn’t subside with time; on the contrary, they became bigger, heavier, more brutal. and so did you. by the time you entered adolescence, you were a force to be reckoned with, excelling in everything you did—gymnastics ? medals hung on the walls of your father's study with pride. school ? aced every test, every homework. social life ? you were known and feared and desired just as you were supposed to be. you were brilliant, relentless, and always aiming for more because there was always another expectation, a higher one. there was always another goal to achieve, another record to beat, another gold to win. and you were always right on the edge of your seat, ready to fight for a new accomplishment.
medical school was just the next one when the time for college came, and you aced it as you did everything else. however, relentless as you have been your whole life, you never realized how tired you were until the freedom of college showed you a different world, a world full of perspectives and decisions that, for the first time, were yours to make. hence decisions you made, paths you chose, and disappointment you saw in your parents’ eyes for the first time in your life when you decided to become a pediatrician instead of something else, anything else.
but you were beyond caring at that point; you were, for the first time, beyond expectations. you have decided for yourself, and that gave you a liberty, an independence that felt both exhilarating and terrifying at the same time.
and with it, you ran away.
you’ll never truly know what made you do it; you only knew it felt right — leaving baltimore, leaving the household that imprisoned you for years, and a legacy you never wanted in the first place. you took a flight to california one morning and never looked back, and there you started a new life.
it had been decades of doing exactly what you wanted, and how you wanted it when the world went downhill. as the scientist you were, you attributed the first event as an isolated issue, one that could be easily put under control with the right actions; however, when an isolated issue became multiple, when it started to expand, when it stopped being news on your screen and started being a problem walking down the street, you knew something was very wrong.
you were locked behind the doors of your workplace sometime in may, and you were safe there for a while. but as it happened with a lot of other places, everything collapsed after a few weeks, and you were forced to move. luckily, you’ve always been an assertive woman, one who always knew what they wanted and how she wanted it, someone who learned early on that her voice had to be heard, and that, literally, took you places.
that’s how you arrived in cedar grove, after you saw several safe zones collapse. you did it with a heavy heart, a bag full of losses, a stoic countenance, and little faith. why would this one stick if any of the others did ? the thing was—you never knew how to work outside of a community, how to survive without being useful, how to make it without helping others; you still don’t know to this day. so you pitch yourself when you arrive ( because you’re insanely good at it ), and you convince them, as much as yourself, that you’re an asset they can’t afford to lose, that they have no idea how many lives you’ll save if they take you in.
and so you do. every day, from dawn to sunset, you take care of people. you’re not the warmest of them all, but you care, and you’re insanely good at things people need you to be good at — patching someone up, calming a stressed parent down, making a kid smile despite the thuds you can hear on the doors at night.
and yes, you don’t know how long this one will last; you don’t believe it will at all, but for now it’s here, and you’ll do everything in your power to make it work.
⟢ THREE , HEADCANONS .
i. cordelia’s character is difficult and harsh. she has very low tolerance and will call you on your bullshit without a second thought. she doesn’t appreciate stupidity, disrespect, or overfamiliarity. however, she has a terribly soft side that can often be seen around kids or in private with those she cares about.
ii. she was a pediatric surgeon and a stanford academic for decades before the outbreak, and she still carries her most important medical journals with her. you can find her journaling quietly from time to time, trying to wrap her mind around what’s happening and find some answers to whatever’s attacking the world.
iii. she still believes there’s a cure out there, even though this belief dwindles by the day, which makes her stupidly angry. she hardly ever talks about this, though, since she considers hope to be a useless thing.
iv. you won't see her scavenging or killing zombies because she doesn't know how to wield anything that isn't a scalpel, but she’s brilliant and a mean cook. she can make meals from scratch with almost anything, so from time to time, reluctantly, she’ll offer to cook for the rest of the group so all of them can have a decent meal.
v. she doesn't go out unless it is strictly necessary. actually, she has done it once since arriving in cedar grove, and it was because others seemed useless at locating the specific medical supplies they were lacking. it was one of the worst experiences of her life, so she tries to avoid leaving the community as much as she can.
vi. hates reading but loves to do it for kids, so you will find her doing this, especially when things get difficult or particularly scary. she will gather all the kids in a safe corner, make them as comfortable as possible, and use her sweetest voice to read stories to them until they fall asleep or forget about the world a little.
vii. she’s as scary with grown-ups as she is sweet with little ones. has a perpetual resting bitch face that only breaks when she’s interacting with children, so feel free to be surprised if you see her interacting with them because it is A Sight™.
viii. annoyingly uptight, mean asf, hardcore lesbian. despite the outbreak, she somehow still manages to look put together, clean, and unfazed. is this real ? ABSOLUTELY NOT ! she’s scared to death, but she’d rather be thrown into a pit of zombies than admit it.
ix. she doesn’t have much to offer when it comes to exchanges, but she knows how to make herself useful and indispensable. she has shown so much by taking care of everyone, treating from a little cold to the roughest of injuries, so i headcanon most people within community one respect her and do her favors if she needs them.
x. oh ! she practiced gymnastics from a very early age; her parents enrolled her in classes because they thought it would teach her discipline ( they were right ), so despite not looking the part, she’s very physically dexterous and stealthy. sadly, she hasn’t realized how useful this can be during an apocalypse lmao.

CHARACTER INSPO: lexie grey from greys anatomy, lexi howard from euphoria, beth greene from walking dead, wednesday addams from the addams family
PRE-OUTBREAK.
growing up in the grady family was never for the faint of heart, especially for abby. the only sister out of her siblings, she always seemed to struggle with being the black sheep and overall outcast of the bunch.
she'd always been a bit more closed off, introverted, overall reserved in comparison to her brothers. she didn't particularly hold the same hobbies or interests in relation to them. basically, abby had always marched to the beat of her own drum .... preferring her own company more often than not ( and honestly? being okay with that ).
one of her comforts during her upbringing was school. even from a young age, her teachers were quick to observe that she had a sharp mind, one that was ahead of many of her fellow classmates. she was deemed one of the more gifted students her teachers would have, knowing that she was going to go far in life. school and learning genuinely excited her, always craving to know more. she didn't even care that she never had many friends, children being put off by her peculiar, nerdy demeanor.
she had an interest in wanting to pursue a career in medicine for as far as she could remember. science and the world of medicine always peaked her interest, constantly reading books and articles about medicine, devouring any media that was related to it.
by the time she reached high school age, she graduated near the top of her class a year early and was offered many full ride scholarships for pre-med programs. she decided to take a risk and move away from georiga, attending college in california for under grad. it made her a bit nervous, putting herself out there like that. but, she wanted to challenge herself and prove she could be bold.
abby ends up thriving in under grad, continuing to have impressive marks as she slowly begins the process of applying for medical school. part of her wanted to move back home, knowing that schools in the south would probably provide a bit more scholarship opportunities. but, she decided to stay in california as she went through medical school.
medical school is no joke for the student. long hours, little sleep, and countless material to absorb. but, she's able to graduate and begin her career as a resident physician with the saint marlowe medical department.
roughly halfway through her residency, a simple one night stand ended up with a positive pregnancy test ! she had always wanted kids ... but the timing? well, it wasn't exactly the best.
too terrified to tell the father of her future daughter, she decided to keep it under wraps and become a single mother. giving birth to a beautiful baby girl named rhiannon ( rhia for short <3 ), the young doctor decided to take an extended maternity leave for proper bounding time with her newborn.
POST-OUTBREAK.
rhia is barely six months old when the outbreak begins to spread through ventura county. truthfully, abby is scared shitless. part of her wanting to try to get to georgia to see how her family is doing, but knowing that's not the same option with such a young child. so, she decides to stay within the state.
she is looped into communtiy safezone two due to being employed with the er department and being deemed valuable. it's a win-win situation for her, safety for her small family in exchange for her skills in medicine.
she is trying her best to contribute to the community all while trying to raise her child in this new world of theirs. it's been very challenging, but she's been overall optimistic about it ( at least around other people ).
in the back of her mind, abby doesn't always feel 100% safe within the community, knowing that anything can really happen. she keeps on thinking of the what if scenarios, if their community falls .... what is next?
HEADCANONS.
she has lost contact with the rest of her family, unaware of if they are alive or dead
A GOTH BADDIE - you can see her with her perfectly winged eyeliner, dark clothes, dark vibe overall
looks like she could kill you, is actually a cinnamonroll
god, she hates mornings, much more of a night owl tbh
she would do people's homework (mostly science related assignments) growing up to make extra $$$
very much was type b resident doc ! she didn't pack her lunch half the time, thriving on vending machine snacks and getting verbal report.
some of her favorite artists/bands are fleetwood mac/stevie nicks, avril lavigne, my chemical romance, ozzy osbourne, led zepplin, and alanis morissette.
cat person <3
big fan of sour candy over sweet
lowkey people probably think she is like a witch or vampire .... perhaps?
extroverted introvert??? she is kind of the type of person who can (fake) having conversation with almost anyone but due to her resting bitch face, she can seem a bit standoffish. she has her lil' inner circle of pals and she's cool with that. she also loves her alone time and needs it to decompress.
sadly a chronic smoker :( she loves that morning cigarette so bad

V. BACKSTORY.
TW: car crash; severe injury (TBI) mention
before.
you've always been a practical guy, a solution-oriented employee ready to take care of any obstacle standing in your way. your father was a mechanic, so it came as no surprise that you ended up becoming one as well, with roughly twenty-six years of experience under your belt. a true professional of your craft.
everything was going well until one fateful day, your wife sarah got into a serious car crash. they described it as a collision with a distracted driver, a terrible lapse in judgment that could have cost sarah her life. luckily, she survived, but not without complications. she suffered a traumatic brain injury and had to remain hospitalized for some time. grace, your little one, was only eight when the accident happened, leaving you as the sole provider for your family. you managed somehow at first. that was until sarah was moved to a long-term rehabilitation facility. insurance could not cover all of the medical bills, and over time they began to pile up. you had to find a way to make ends meet.
although your salary as a mechanic could no longer sustain you and your daughter, the experience and connections you had gained throughout the years proved useful. one of your close friends was a long-haul trucker who recommended you for the position, and within a few weeks, you landed your new job as a truck driver. it meant you would be away for days, if not weeks, sometimes even months at a time, and you couldn't leave your daughter to fend for herself. with sarah still in rehabilitation, her mother agreed to take care of grace while you were gone. you were grateful to have some kind of safety net while adapting to your new profession.
after.
there had been signs in the surrounding areas indicating that something had shifted. news on the radio mentioned a mysterious illness spreading across the country. you didn't pay much attention to it, given that such talks happened from time to time, only to quiet down days later. you had other responsibilities on your mind, such as making sure to deliver precious cargo to the agreed location.
no matter what, you weren't going to fail at this job.
eventually, the radio went down, and panic began to set in. at least from what you witnessed while passing local diners, people screaming, running out of buildings, others chasing after them. some sort of violent outbreak? a riot? then it happened again, this time in a traffic jam on a highway headed through santa clarita. you never reached it. what happened afterward was still somewhat of a blur. people getting out of their cars. some rushing over. attacking each other. at first, you locked yourself inside your truck, but seeing more of those crazed people surrounding your vehicle, you made a break for it, barely escaping the highway in one piece.it was shocking and confusing and deeply... unnerving.
you didn't know what it was or what they were, but they weren't listening to your warnings. so you had to put a stop to a few of them, grabbing whatever you could find, heavier rocks, anything that could be used to defend yourself.worry started to seep in. worry over what you had done. worry over the possibility that you had killed people. worry over the uncertainty of it all.
the news stopped spreading. no one came to help. you were stranded in the middle of nowhere with no aid coming your way. you wanted to hide at first, but then you thought about your daughter and your mother-in-law being out there alone. sarah was still trapped in that rehabilitation center.
you couldn't accept that reality.
you wouldn't.
now.
you're constantly on the move.two months ago, you were near santa clarita. soon enough, it became clear that main roads and cities were no longer safe, so you moved away from them, eventually making your way into ventura county. it wasn't ideal, but it would have to suffice for now.
during your temporary stay in the area, you noticed people nearby. guards, by the look of them, traveling through the region. you no longer possessed the blind instinct to rush toward perceived safety after several similar mistakes in the past. now, you only observe. you gather as much information as you can. you stay out of sight. your priorities haven't changed. grace was still in bakersfield, as far as you knew, and you had to return home. no matter how long it would take. no matter the things you would have to do.
you would keep this one promise to yourself and to them.
because that was the only thing that kept you going.
VI. CONNECTIONS.
✯ THE LAST FRIENDLY FACE (OPEN) - after the world changed, you did not expect to meet someone from your past, let alone them. not that they couldn't make it… it's just that the two of you weren't particularly close before. your paths used to cross during your travels, usually at one diner or another where you'd stop for lunch. they were one of the last people who knew the version of you that no longer existed. or perhaps it was buried so far in the past that it no longer served you. you weren't the same person anymore, and chances are, neither were they.
✯ THE ANNOYANCE (OPEN) - you were meant to meet survivors on your way back to bakersfield. they just appeared one day, perhaps looking for supplies. you made the mistake of sharing some of yours. now they won't leave you alone, despite the many hints you've sent their way. they were definitely looking for an easy way to survive, but you knew better than to add yet another life to the list of your responsibilities.
✯ THE COMPANION (OPEN) - they were one of the first people you came across during the first days of the outbreak. neither of you knew what was going on or when it would end. the only thing you were certain of, though, was that you had to keep yourselves alive. and what's a better way to do that than with someone who has your back?
✯ THE DEBT (OPEN) - they saved your life once. you're not sure whether they did it out of the kindness of their heart or to benefit themselves in the long run. whatever the case, you do not forget your debts. in a world like this, you're sure to repay them sooner rather than later.
✯ THE WITNESS (OPEN) - they have seen you do something terrible. whether you stole supplies, left someone behind, threatened someone, or simply ignored a call for aid. some would judge you for those acts, calling you a monster. they don't know your intentions, nor your full backstory, but a reality like this changes people. and it changed you too. their perception of you and your actions remains to be seen.
✯ THE UNLIKELY CONFIDANT (OPEN) - you don't trust easily, nor do you stick around long enough to form bonds. yet somehow they've known you long enough to remain by your side, even when your paths diverge for a while. the two of you keep finding your way back to one another, for better or worse. you know the current version of them, and they know yours. neither of you seems to mind the people you've become.
✯ ADDITIONAL CONNECTIONS (OPEN) - new connections can and will be added as plotting continues!

tw: addiction, death
violet grew up living with a duality of being thankful that she was an only child to a single mother whilst still wishing that she had someone to share the burden with. the reality was that she grew up in an unsteady home with a mother who often felt more like a child or younger sibling than she did a mother. despite her father's constant absence and shortcomings, there were moments of financial security and stability whenever he came out of a rehab facility and managed to keep his sobriety for a few months at a time.
her mother was often her best self when violet's father was around, shortly finding her own ways to keep the company of another person when he disappeared and didn't leave home. the late nights would start and as much as violet would try to wake her mother up to go to work and bring her to school, she often left with her mother still in bed while she walked to school herself.
at the age of sixteen, the news of her father's death became a blessing in disguise. he had already felt gone to her given the longer stints away but it provided her mother with a freedom to finally look for a future with someone else. a person who would replace her daughter and who could care for her. within a few months, her mother had relocated with a man and violet decided to move in with her friend's family until she finished high school.
her grades skyrocketed and she pursued a job as a paralegal. the newfound freedom of being on her own and being successful was intoxicating and she enjoyed every moments she could by making up for the time loss of being a teenager who cared for her mother than who was out being rebellious. nevertheless, she still had her studies in mind and remained at the top of her class.
her work and belongings soon took priority as it was the first thing she'd done for herself. they came first and she put everything else aside... until the world turned on its head a few years into living her dream life.
she moved from group to group, trusting when she could, travelling alone when needed, until she found the safety of the community 2. life hasn't been easy for and despite realizing the luxuries of her past life are gone, she still hasn't been able to adapt to the constant presence of others while trying to mourn her old life. since her arrival, she helps when she cans and sometimes tries to get out of chores, especially when it involves the kitchen. her white ragdoll cat that she knows is still alive in her apartment is often the reason for her tears and she has a picture she found in a magazine of what looks like princess tucked under her pillow at all times.

she knew from a young age who she wanted to be, and that was the boss. she carried that attitude with her, her entire life. whether it was in high school when she had to be class president and head cheerleader or in adulthood when she got her cosmetology license and working for someone else wasn't gonna cut it.
she opened her salon at the young age of 21, putting her entire savings into it (and a big loan from her parents, but she won't admit that). a year later, she met kaide through a friend at the bar.
by the age of 23, mila was a successful business owner and wife. she was the boss of her job, house, and life. she had it all, and when kaide suggested bringing a baby into the mix, mila was overjoyed. not only was she bossy enough to be a mother, being the eldest sister left a maternal instinct in her for life.
getting pregnant took longer than they had except, but still their son shane was everything that mila could ever want. he was the perfect little baby and the light of her life. though it didn't take long for her husband to give up on being her husband and focus more on being a father and bounty hunter instead.
mila claims she didn't even notice when he moved out and the divorced finalized when shane was 8 years old, but really she cried in her room for months.
AFTER THE OUTBREAK —
the day the world ended, milas entire world. it all happened so fast that she remembers bits and pieces in the blur that it was.
shane came tumbling through the doorway that afternoon, his face paler than she had ever seen before with his shirt ripped to shreds almost. the thing could remember most was the sheer terror and panic in his voice. "mom..? there's something happening out there and someone.. someone bit me..?"
she refuses to remember anymore of what happened next that day or the sound of her ex-husband saying goodbye to him and the sound of her shane, or whatever her son had become, leaving this world for good.
kaide was to blame. mila had to blame someone.
through cries and screams of the hurt of it all, mila took what little things she could (including her sons favorite high school shirt and her gold locket with his picture) and let herself be dragged to the community she lives now.
Is that WILHELMINA “BILLIE” BLACKWELL? Before the outbreak, the 31-year-old worked as a CORPORATE LAWYER. Those who have crossed paths with them describe them as QUICK-WITTED, though pressure often reveals their VINDICTIVE nature. They are often associated with HANDS TANGLED IN TOO MANY STRINGS YOU’RE PULLING / DIRTY NAILS ITCHING FOR A MANICURE THEY’LL NEVER GET AGAIN FLIPPING YOU OFF / BLOOD STAINED DESIGNER SHOES ON BROKEN PAVEMENT / CALCULATING GLARE IN DARK EYES DEMANDING HER WAY.

LIFE;
● the blackwell name isn't one turn a blind eye to, especially not in new york. from lawyers firms to banking associations, you're bound to find one of dean blackwell's kin in the fine prints. an uncle, a cousin, a brother, it doesn't matter, one will be involved in anything that screams power. ownership is the name of the game, his family understood that a legacy ago, and he was hellbent on keeping it going.
● the first failure in the bloodline came in a daughter rather than a firstborn son to take on the title of heir. or so he thought, because after a single look in the baby's eyes, dean knew a lot more would fall for a new blackwell charm.
● and billie grows up to meet her father's expectations. beautiful, cutthroat, and driven ; she was raised to be looking out for herself, and what's best for her goals and her family's. and she never cared for the nasty stares that came along with a difficult choice had to be made. acquiring a family owned business to grow the blackwell empire ? done thing. having to trick them doesn't phase her, the fall of tears over fresh ink on new disgusting contract is white noise. if anything, she thrived in the chaos she could bring with a snap of her fingers. she makes her father forget that he wanted a son at all when she can close deals with a deceptive smile. but he is easy to impress. for some reason, her mother never seems satisfied with her achievements.
● no matter what she does, there is always something more that could've been done. perfection is the bare minimum for misa, and billie is far from perfect.
● always a detail missing, always a false move made. and it's not like billie isn't trying. she does everything her mom asks of her. goes to the school she wants, into the field she wants, with the highest grades like she wants. but it's never enough.
● she spends most of her life trying to prove to her that she can keep up with the family business. interns for her father, works insane hours, catches any redeye to attend meetings, builds her own web of connections. but any success is never attributed to her, always to someone else that surely had to help her.
OUTBREAK;
● in may, she was landing from one of those redeye when first news started to come out of overfilling hospitals and canceled flights. little did she know, it was one of the last place to ever deboard passengers. her father had business in los angeles, and this new hysteria going on online wasn't anything real. it had to be the new trend, it would die down after the month.
● that is, until it isn't online anymore. it hits the city from the inside, and it eats away at anything it touches. sick people get sicker, dead people get . . . more alive. it's a shit show and she's stuck in a a hotel room until the military miraculously get to them.
● they're taken to a shelter up north, outside of the city, awaiting the craze to die down. but at this way, she knew it was only wishful thinking. still, she had to hold onto something, had to stay strong for a father that always believed in her and believed they would get out of this. believed they would go back home and find her mom again. he wanted it more than she did, as horrible as it might sound. out of the two, she is at least glad to be stuck miles away in chaos and confusion with him.
● but the shelter didn't last. of course it didn't. on the outskirts of the city, it still was too close. it had been a matter of time before the walls crumbled, with thinning military presence as they had been deemed expendable not high value enough.
● they somehow get out, but not without paying a price. the scramble for the exits is the worst part. everyone stepping on each other, shots aimed in the sea of people only trying to save themselves. they got out pushing and shoving, unscathed. or almost. her father had gotten grabbed in the attempt, not that he told her about it.
● traveling north following the coastline, they set their sight on ventura county. she had a few clients there, and surely the less dense area wouldn't have been touched by whatever it was that was plaguing the city.
● they met gabriel, out on a quest of his own to find someone he holds dear, and with him being local to the area, it made sense to stick together. as much as she hated it and let him know. but her father was getting more disoriented. probably just in need of more water, or good food they hadn't had in weeks.
● the infection turns too much to handle, the fever breaks and it stops them in the search for the other man's half. but he'll pull through. he had to pull through, he couldn't leave her here, alone with a stranger she can't stand and away from home. and maybe he had heard her pleas, because in the night, he tried to take her with him. whatever it was that made everyone go violent is exactly what he got, despite her wishes. being attacked by your own father, the only one that truly ever loved you and saw you for the prize you were, almost stunned her to her own demise. survival instincts she never knew she had kicked in, and the first thing she can grab ended right against the skull of her only real family. the smashing motion only stopped when his did, and gabe had to pull her away from what she'd done.
● traveling as a duo now, the only reason she turned more agreeable to all the detours and searches was the numbness for a few days. the real moment she had realized she had to trust him now hadn't been when he'd helped her wash the blood off of her, but when they had gotten caught by more infected people, and without him, she'd have met a similar end to her father. he didn't leave her behind, he didn't let her get hurt. and she didn't let him either. he might be the only person she'll ever trust again. they now find themselves arriving into a community after what had felt like forever since they saw any glimpse of civilization, and she clings to him like the last lifeline she'd be given.
COMMUNITY ;
coming soon !
tl;dr */ ; a traumatized manipulative nepobaby that has no business being alive months into an apocalyptic scenario. voted most likely to die in a zombie apocalypse by her class. the worse person you knew before somehow still the worse person you know now. if there is a way out of this, a way to make it work, she'll find it, although her own hands won't be dirtied further than they already were.
